Wow, no William and no Meredith this week. Let's see if I can get the formatting right for the intro...

Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

For myself:

This week I wrote a new scene, cut two others, and revised a fourth. I also got my word count below 120k for the first time since I finished writing the first draft

It's a big goal, but next week I want to revise the next 7 scenes, which will take me to the end of part 3.

Cats and dogs, living together, mass hysteria!

Thanks for stepping up Emily. Have I told you lately I totally dug your story? I'm glad to hear your still chugging away on it. I really hope to see it in print someday.

As for me, I'm adding words. Still fleshing out my middle grade. Trying to get it to 30k. I will be happy with it if I can reach that point. What's also fun is as I fill it in, I'm dreaming up plot and characters for the 2nd book.

This was created with the intention of being, not a series, but more like a series of episodes. Similar to the Magic Tree House books.

We'll see. =)

I hope to do some more work on the unnamed urban fantasy.

BD&L is ready to go through, I'm hoping, for the final time. Tidy, fix, finish! Will start that in a week or so.

This week is going to be given over to trying to write that darn short story since I threw my hat in the ring for the On the Premise contest. <slapping self in forehead and mumbling under breath>

Oops. Guess I forgot.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title): Probably nothing for this week.
Easy goal.

MAGE STORM: Send out at least three more queries.
Yep.

SEVEN STARS: Start the revisions.
Started. I'm only up to chapter two, but that counts as started.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Send out at least three more queries.
Hmm. No. Only two. But one of them got a request for the full ms.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Revise my WotF entry to have it ready for the next round of critiques.
Yes, to both.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title):
Nothing for this week again. I want to let it simmer just a bit longer.

MAGE STORM:
Send out at least three more queries.

SEVEN STARS:
Continue revisions and try to build a little momentum. Let's say three more chapter--that'd take me through Chapter 4.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Send out three more queries.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Hey two people before Meredith, Boy, you were busy or something.

I wasn't... not with writing on my novels. Which is why I'm doing this earlier than usual.

Nothing on any of my three novels.

Which means that:
NA (In New Mage) is still working through her emotional crisis. Any second she is going to realize part of the reason and go after the bad guy but I hope to try to dig a little more into her emotional state first. I'm finding that not as easy as I thought it would be. I think I'm still too superficial.

And it's probably just me but of the three I think this is the better story and hopefully better writing. Not counting the first three chapters, I'm going to have to redo... well, not so much the first one, I already redid most of that one.

Bright Lights is still being critted and I am going to have to reconfigure a new chapter six to send out next week. It's written I just have to decide on what makes up ch 6.

"Storm Born" is being critted too. I sent chapter one to three people and I think I have only two back but I don't have a deadline except for an inner clock. And I have to redo chapter two to send it out.

I finished rewriting my first chapter and sent it off for comments. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for finishing the rewrite finally, because this particular revision was HARD.
