Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

Last Week's Goals

Sorry for missing last week, everyone. So busy with work and holidays. Needless to say I did no writing last week (or the one before).

My goals for next week:

  • Clean Outlines

I did finish scanning in the outlines I had from many years ago. For now I need to go back and clean up the scanned files to make sure everything reflects what was on the paper. After that (which will take some time) I need to go through each of those files and combine text since many of these documents are duplicates. I need to get everything into a single document. This may take a while, but I hope it is worth the effort.

What did I learn this week?

Nothing this week, again.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL: Let it rest until January. Then I can start the second draft.
Easy goal. [Smile]

MAGE STORM: Let it rest. Wait for feedback.
Another easy one. [Smile]

SEVEN STARS: Let it rest.
Easy again. [Smile]

BLOOD WILL TELL: Wait to hear from the agent who has the full ms.
Not so easy. [Frown]

BLOOD IS THICKER: Finish. I'm so close.
Nope. [Frown]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL:
It's about time to get started on the second draft of this one.

MAGE STORM:
Start querying again.

SEVEN STARS:
Let it rest.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Send a polite email to the agent who has had the full ms since September.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Finish. I'm so close. It's a first draft. It doesn't have to be right. It doesn't even have to be good. It just has to get finished.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Finished New Mage On The Block, worked a bit on it today to clear up some points and add something I forgot. But it's 73,860 words and ten chapters long for now. Still need to change the title though.

Still need to redo chapter two and three and revise the whole thing, so I might add a thousand to five thousand words.

Managed to do a bit on Angel Kin too.

I think I said last time that I finished Breaking Out.

Didn't quite make my goal, but I wrote 3 days last week for a total of 1700 words.

This week, I'm back to 1k/day (hopefully).

Hi everyone, i'm jumping in this week. i've got too many novels languishing on my hard drive. I'm determined to pick at least one up and get it out the door.

So, for this week, my task is simple:

CLEAR OFF MY WRITING DESK

It's buried in mountains of books, pens, papers, notepads, yarn, what have you.
