As for me:

Last Week's Goals:

MAGE STORM: Think about what else I could do with this story.
Still thinking. [Frown]

THE SHAMAN'S CURSE/THE VOICE OF PROPHECY: Nothing for this week.
Easy one. [Smile]

BEYOND THE PROPHECY: Finish this complete revision pass. Start back through the things I've marked for another look.
Started. Was struck by inspiration after listening to Writing Excuses. [Big Grin]

MAGIC'S WARRIOR (temporary working title of DUAL MAGICS Book 4): On hold for the revisions to BEYOND THE PROPHECY.
Another easy one. [Smile]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

MAGE STORM:
Think about what else I could do with this story.

THE SHAMAN'S CURSE/THE VOICE OF PROPHECY:
Nothing for this week.

BEYOND THE PROPHECY:
Try to finish the final revisions.

MAGIC'S WARRIOR (temporary working title of DUAL MAGICS Book 4): On hold for the revisions to BEYOND THE PROPHECY.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Last Week's Goals:

1. Continue editing chapters two and three of Kingdom of Ravens.
I made through to chapter four and also divided my huge eight chapters into fifteen. Yeah, ten thousand words per chapter is way to much [Razz] .

2. Start hacking away at the dialogue tags.
Still working on this one, though I did make it to chapter four as well. Not sure if I'm happy with this yet.

This Week's goals:
1. Continue editing chapters one through four after receiving feedback.
Here we go again [Smile] .

2. Also crumble this wall that I've hit in As the Heavens Burn and continue the story.
I am fleshing out the outline, though, chapter by chapter [Smile] .

Last week’s goal: Begin developing Bartholomew Prinn’s personality. A total failure! [Frown]

I could blame it on the distractions at work, but that would be disingenuous. The sad truth is, and I only mention this because you may find it useful, I have only taken the first few steps along the rutted, gravel track that leads to my desired destination; a coherent and complete short-story examining aspects of the human condition. For the last week or so I have been baulked by Fred; Fred, by the way, is the name given by Damon Knight to that part of our psyche from which inspiration, and the answers to questions we didn’t even know we had, springs.

There he stands, in the middle of the road, his face distorted by a scowl as though he is engaged in some internal struggle of great import. His hands thrust deep into his pockets, from time to time he glowers at me, or lowers his gaze to his feet while he rearranges the pebbles under the toe of his left boot. I cannot get past him until he allows me to, so here I stand and wait for epiphany.

It hasn’t been a total waste; there has been some movement of ideas. I am about to write my first non-Anglo character; Prinn will be Eurasian. His father is half English and half Sri Lankan and a professor of American Literature—this creates the basis for Prinn’s fantasy life. His mother will be Japanese, an artist (I think), and typical of most Japanese mothers, if not fathers as well—no concept of tough love. If your kid refused to come out of their room for six months or more, what would you do?

I have also realised this is an origin story and, perhaps, a collision between genres: Techno-pop and the American western—just an idea.

Goal for this week: See what Fred does.

Phil.
