There are four finalists in the Harry Potter Death Pool, with one clear winner (by my completely arbitrary standard). The finalists are all those with two correct picks.

The finalists and their picks are:
KayTi: Snape & Lupin
Tignernite: Snape & Mad-Eye Moody
WobblyG: Snape & Fred Weasley

The WINNER is:
WobblyG.
Wobbly wins by virtue of making the most impressive pick: Fred Weasley.

Congratulations, WobblyG. You now have bragging rights, and may refer to yourself in the third person as "The Predictor"

All hail Wobbly G. Was that just a lucky pick?

I have a theory she meant to kill George but couldn't tell them apart.

Also, who do you think was the character she meant to kill, who got a reprieve? Hagrid makes some sense.

Reprieve means to "delay the impending punishment or sentence of (a condemned person)," so I think that person has to be Snape. He was condemned in our minds, but then we saw that there was good in his heart.

I just finished last night!

Thank-you for the ruling. The Predictor likes your criteria! The Predictor doesn’t think that the Fred prediction was luck. (Ok, referring to myself as The Predictor will get annoying very fast!)

To be honest, I wasn’t sure if it would be Fred or George, but I figured having one of the twins die while the other lived would increase the intensity of the suffering and give us a higher misery/death ratio. As a writer, that seemed to make sense to me.

I found Snape’s death to be almost anti-climatic. I firmly believed he was working against Voldemort and that his death would somehow enable Harry to defeat Voldemort. Which, I guess, it did, but I was waiting for him to finally take a stand against Voldemort and actively fight against him. When he was killed so quickly without putting up much of a fight, it was a bit shocking to me.

I’m glad that we did get to see his memories. I had heard the theory that he was in love with Lily and her death is what made Dumbledore so sure he could trust him. That always seemed kind of feeble to me, but seeing the added part that they grew up together and were best friends at least felt believable. It worked for me anyway.

WobblyG (The Predictor)

Go Wobbly! I'm proud to be in the same category as you. Not that I'm happy about Lupin dying, but I just had a feeling. He was one of my favorite adult characters in the book. I liked him so much in Book 3. But...so be it. Meanwhile, guessing one twin but not the other was a MASTERFUL stroke! I think you posted to the thread after my guess, or I would have been tempted to copy you.
