Hello all I'm new to this forum -- well, obviously. I'm a novel writer, or at least, I'm trying to be; I'll mostly be posting bits and pieces of my latest story. I also write short stories occasionally, although I have mostly given up this practice to dedicate my time to my full novel, nicknamed "Group Hug" until its completion. One question, though. Does thirteen lines mean sentences or literally lines on a MS Word document? Thanks. Posts: 7 | Registered: Oct 2012

Welcome, jump right in, the water's fine. 13 lines means thirteen lines of courier 12 point type. Here, in Oz, we use A4 size paper so I've always got a few extra words I can add to my 13.
If you look at the 'quick reply' panel, that's 13 lines of text. For paragraphs, add a blank line (it doesn't count toward your 13 lines of text).

Actually, "Quick Reply" isn't big enough for 13 lines.
If you want the right size for a 13 line post, you need to use the "Post Reply" button off of the lower left corner of the "Quick Reply" box.
I hope that makes sense.
You could also read the PLEASE, READ HERE FIRST topics to learn more about the 13 lines and about how this forum works.

Well, Lord Misfit. I am late with greeting you and my most humbling apologies for that fact but be thou welcome.
We all need a bit of clarification now and again which means you are normal here.
But in your further--assuming you have been exploring all ready--exploration of the Ye Olde Treehouse do be careful there's a unicorn running around and she can be mean

Thanks!! I'll make sure to watch out for that. Although I've always wanted to see a rogue unicorn...
