So I decided to join here. I'm not 100% sure about how I'm going to use the site (For good or evil? <grin>) but I know what I'm like and what I do, so I'll tell y'all that.
So I read more than I write, which I do more than I edit. I write very little and read a lot. Editing hardly slips in to the pie chart.
I write mostly sad/depressive stories, and the exceptions tend to fall under adventure, romance or sci-fi, or any combination of the three. I co-write with my brothers from time to time, being the one that writes while me and my older brother spout ideas and the little brother acts as our test dummy so we can see if he can understand it.
I started off writing fan-based fiction, moving slowly into stand-alone series later on. I have a habit of writing very small chapters, and producing them very slowly.
All of my stories are more liked than disliked, but that's more or less all I can say for most of them. 'To Love and be Loved' - a simple premise with a couple of thousand words online - got me invited on to a writing site called 'noveljoy', which I told family and friends. Someone - I can't remember who right now - told me that I should join up on here, and so here I am.
I am an Otaku - if you don't know what that means then you probably won't care. I am a Brony - see above rule.
My current relationship status is on a bit of a 'wobbly line' - I know what it is now, but I have no clue what it might be by the time you read this. That doesn't make me comfortable, but it does encourage me to write romance, adventure and/or sci-fi. When I'm in a relationship I'll feel happy so I'll write fictions about people being upset and then becoming happy. Kind of happy/sad stories, if you will. When I'm just out of a relationship I'll feel depressed and worthless so I'll try and engage myself in reading and writing and making other people around me in real life happy, so my writings will come out in the sad/depressed style, people being put into bad situations.
I plan not to publish any of my online stories to the world of paper, but the co-operative project I am working on with my two brothers should be out there well before I need much money, so I'll be using the site mostly to check with how I'm doing on the '13 lines' area and get a couple of people looking over my stuff and keeping my writing in line. My brother is in college, and hasn't written any stories before, so he hardly devotes much time to the project. I don't like working on it alone because I hate having to backtrack on work and waste the effort unless I have to, and I find that my writing for the project is better when my brother is here to watch over me and give me pointers for what kind of vocabulary I should use in what situation, and tell me what the aliens (a formic species, like the buggers from Enders Game, and like the ones in Ruin, I think, too) look like, how he wants them to speak and such.
Our co-operative book will be in a sci-fi/adventure genre. Our plan is to work on a massive scale, and have one metaphor to explain everything. We start our discovery's amazement level just below the scale of the discovery of faster-than-light space travel in Ender's Game and stretch it to levels at which we ourselves need hours and several sheets of paper to explain to each other at the moment. We have the metaphor, but we still have a lot to write, and we've decided where we are going to cut the metaphor off.
I hope to see you all around, and wish you all a happy new year. For now I need to get on with writing up my Christmas Story, as it must be finished and uploaded by the new year, GMT, and I still have 4,000 words to write up.
