I'm a writer of fantasy, and some sci fi although I'm more interested in character than science. I've always written, but in the last three years have gotten way more serious about it. This past year, published three short stories, and am now trying to break in to the pro markets.
My first novel is almost finished. I recently completed an Odyssey class online, and discovered a flaw that I am now working on, so another month or so and I'll be ready to look for an agent, which terrifies me more than the writing.
I am having difficulty with the beginning of the novel, and beginnings in general, and heard about this group giving feedback on beginnings, so here I am. Had no idea the community was so extensive.
You've come to the right place to learn something about writing--notice I said something not everything or even most.
We're friendly too.....most of the time.
But there is character driven SF, in fact many markets want it that way. And not all SF has a lot of real science in it.
And while you explore the Treehouse do please be careful especially if you see a unicorn in the same hallway. She can be mean at times.

Welcome. I'm a new member too, interested in Mystical Realism and Fantasy. Came here to learn, and so far it's been a great asset -- reading critiques of others' work, chiming in with opinions and getting some feedback on my own.
Just one bit of advice: Don't let them scare you. Posts: 39 | Registered: Feb 2013
