Hi. I'm new here. I've been teaching middle school English to other people's children for a decade and a half, so most of my writing has been in red ink, or gems of wisdom for them about how they can best learn the fine art of communicating in their mother tongue. Yeah, sure, I wrote for myself a little, but I was usually too tired from teaching them how to write to do any serious writing myself. It wasn't until I got married, had a kid, and bought a ramshackle old house badly in need of repair that I finally had the leisure time to write seriously.

Ha.

Anyway, for some reason, this year I cranked out a novel and some short fiction--writing that I think is worth trying to get read by people over the age of thirteen. I would love to read what others are writing, and offer my own for critique. I look forward to exploring these boards.

Hey, PAB. Fellow teacher here (high school English and drama), so I understand the "no time to write for yourself" thing. Welcome!

I appreciate the words of welcome. Thank god for the internet. I am centrally isolated in upstate NY and sorely lacking a community of writers to share with, so I am hoping I can find that here.

My time to write is between 9pm and midnight, after my three year old has passed out. As a result, I am very tired. But I have been able to write 91,000 words and several short pieces since November 1, so it's working out OK... assuming any of it is any good, which is a big assumption, I realize.

Indeed be welcomed.

You will find all you need here to write tales that anyone over 13 years of age would want to read. However you might find some advice on how to make it for those under 13 too. There is a market for that age. And if I recall correctly one or three here want to break into it.

So, as you wonder around the treehouse do be careful, there are rooms that move, or change if close your eyes for a moment, and a unicorn who wonders around.
