I am signed up for the writing workshop only and will be flying into the Roanoke VA airport, I don't drive and don't want to pay cab fare for a 45 minute drive. I am looking for someone to either share a rental car or cab fare with one or more people. Email me and let me know if you're interested. Thanks

Not going and not a candidate, but feeling the bizarre need to comment and say something rude...
...well, a car is Freedom-with-a-capital-F, 'cause once you've got one you can go anywhere and do anything in this USA of ours. If you can get one all to yourself, do it...if you can't drive, you should learn...

I am not so sure what is wrong with Robert's comments. I can certainly understand why you wouldn't why to pay for a 45 minute cab ride but the statement I don't drive almost sounds elitist. I don't know, maybe it's the way you worded your request, bandgeek. I am assuming that you have a valid reason for not wanting (able to?) drive, and I am also sure if there is some fellow hatracker that was headed in the same direction, they will be willing to pick you up. Robert's statement is valid. The shear size of our nation and the fact we are spread out makes the car the only viable option to get around. The fact that you are flying into a fairly remote location almost requires you (or a traveling companion) to drive your own vehicle. I wish you luck with your travel plans but remember this axiom that applies to all travelers. When in Rome, do as the Romans doPosts: 3072 | Registered: Dec 2007

Hey, I resemble that comment!
I live near Roanoke (my birthplace), but I haven't signed up for the conference - wasn't sure how busy I'd be with the new job. I'm not sure if it's too late for the one/two day session. Anyone know?

Well, I said "rude" mostly 'cause it didn't help bandgeek9723 get a ride from the Roanoke airport...

never mind everybody, as it turns out I can't afford the plane tickets right now so I will not be able to go to the workshop anyways. Thanks for all of your comments though.
