My favorite is not a single musician but a group that's very well known: Mannheim Steamroller. I just can't get enough of their music and have 7 or 8 of their CDs. The highlight of my Christmas last year was to see their Christmas Concert live at the historic Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne. They put on quite a show.

Took me some time to get to this...it might take me a few minutes to type it out.
First unplanned but I want to add that I love Mannheim Steamroller also. I got to see them three years ago but couldn't last year. I should have gone anyway. They do more than Christmas now and I would love to hear some of their new holiday stuff.
My music tastes vary. Not into heavy metal or some that go beyond that but I think that's about it. Most, definitely not all, of my tastes fall under a genre titled CCM. which includes rap, pop, hip-hop, even heavy metal etc.. But I also like Cowboy music esp, done by the Sons of The San Joaquin, Here , some Country, Classical, celtic.
To list a few to show the variety, I love: Petra, dcTalk, The Sons, Jaci Velasquez, Mandisa-from Idol-, some of Elvis, some from a couple Country stars I can't recall right now.
And I had to come back because I completely forgot jazz.

I go all over the place with music, I don't care what decade it was written or recorded in, not what genre it comes from. There is a certain sonic diffusion that when it happens in a song I love it forever. I have abnormally sensitive ears so I'm not sure anyone else hears it. Owl City hits it often, as does Muse, The Beatles later stuff does as well, and Carlos Santana. But shows up in classical music and gregorian chants as well.

I suppose the Beatles would be top of my list, given how much of their recorded stuff I have on hand and how many different books about their lives and careers I've read.
But I'd go nuts if I listened to just one kind of music...I've got just over five thousand tracks on my iPod right now, and I like to set it to play at random and listen to what comes up. The last ten songs I let play included Joni James, Bing Crosby, Elton John, the Bee Gees, Flatt & Scruggs, Hank Ballard, Freddy Cannon, and the Monkees---as well as two Beatles songs.
(There's some duplication, though, particularly among Beatles songs.)

I love a wide variety of music too, but we were asked to name our favorite. My tastes run from classical, to older style country and rock & roll.
I like the Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, and play my John Denver and Olivia Newton John CDs quite often. I've always liked CW McCall (Wolfcreek Pass, Convoy, etc.). And the Red Sovine classics always make me cry. My favorites are Giddyup Go, Teddy Bear, and Phantom 309.
Just thought I add that when I want to totally relax, I have two North American Indian flute music CDs. They are sooooooo soothing after a trying day.

Of course my iPod doesn't have all my favorite music. I can't download, say, a symphony in four movements to it 'cause on my CDs they're all separate tracks and I don't know how to link 'em up. (I downloaded The Long Medley off Abbey Road by making a CD dub of my vinyl LP, from "Because" all the way to the end, as a single track, though.)
Besides that, I don't have every song I like, not yet. It usually takes a reminder to remember just how much I like something. Just a couple of weeks ago, I realized (1) the Smokey Robinson "greatest hits" CD I bought lacked at least one favorite Miracles song, which I then obtained from iTunes...and (2) while downloading a late 1950s song called "Little Band of Gold," that I didn't have Freda Payne's 1970s song "Band of Gold," which I would have sworn up and down that I already had---I bought a CD but am waiting to listen to it before downloading anything from it.

Re-perusing Crystal Stevens's comment reminded me to check---I don't have any Red Sovine other than a duet on "Why Baby Why" with George Jones, and I really, really should...
