For those (like me) who never felt it could happen.

3 stooges trailer

I got to say I am impressed on how well they cast this thing.

Wow, they did it??!!

Took them so long I wondered also.

Brings some hope for a couple of other movies that are taking a long while.

Hadn't realized they were updating it to the present-day...the real Three Stooges were very much of their era, 1930s through 1950s. The actors handled it well, though.

(I'm surprised it's finished and coming out at all, actually---it's been kicking around for so long...)

I got to say the Moe and Curly characters are darn close. My fear is all the funny parts were compressed into the trailer. Knowing the Farrelly's, I'm betting they saved the best for the movie.

Some further thought...the Sexy Nun bit hardly seems authentic Stooge material...one can ruin something by updating it too much. (Think of how raunchy and / or bloody Casablanca would be if it were made today.)

Finally saw the trailer.

Curly is just right.

But I recall that someone famous was in it. Tom Cruise or someone on his level. Did that person back out? I didn't recognize any of the names I saw listed with the trailer.

Oh, the trailer reminded me. I always want Moe to get it more often. He would get hit every now and then but way too few times.

I can see your point Robert but I have to disagree. A nun stepping out of the pool in such an outfit would have been beyond scandalous in the stooges hey day (can you image the uproar from the Catholic church alone?), but back then their films pushed the line as much as they dared. A common theme of theirs had the boys going ga-ga for a sexy girl in one fashion or another (sidebar - any of you recall a young Lucy Ball in a stooges short?). I even remember them melting over farm girls baring naked shoulders and showing lots of leg in one episode.

In the present day version, I thought their reaction to her, and curly's joke, just the type of the thing the originals would have done.

Sean Penn was supposed to be Larry. Either he backed out or was just replaced - probably wise because all I would have seen was Senn Penn with a Larry haircut if they kept him in.

I think it was a good idea they went with virtual unknowns, Will Sasso is the only name I know (does a damn good Curly though, you have to admit).

Besides that I think he would have made Larry look too young and too handsome.

Sean Penn always looked more like a misplaced Bowery Boy to me...
