That's what my husband Steve kept saying yesterday, but he knew it was special the same as I did. We took Sal in for her annual checkup at the vet's. She's the only dog I know that doesn't mind going to the vet... or getting shots! Doc said to try and watch her weight. She's not fat by any means, but is what we term a little fluffy.

I did some shopping I've been wanting to do for quite some time. After looking at jean shorts at Walmart for months now, I went to Goodwill and got two pairs of exactly what I was looking for. I might go back and do some more shopping there tomorrow. They're running a July 4th half-price sale. Then on to Penny's where someone told me they have bonafide oldfashioned billfolds. Nope, didn't have them, and I don't even think anyone makes them anymore. Had to pick up a runner mat for our bathroom too before heading home.

We had an uneventful afternoon at home before we left for Steve's doctor's appointment. They think he might be having very minor gall bladder problems. He's going in for an ultra-sound Friday.

From there Steve treated me out to Applebee's for dinner where we had a good time and great food before going home for the evening.

Now let's see. I know I left something out. Ah yes! The reason we went to Applebee's was to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. We got asked a couple of times how we stayed together all these years. After all it wasn't all fun and games. Lots of shouting matches and verbal arguments, you can bet. But lots of good times too. Nothing in life is perfect and especially not marriage, but when the chips are down Steve and I are always there for each other... and always will be. After all the last words of our wedding vows were a promise to God that we both take deadly serious; ...till death do us part. I just hope that's still a long ways off... for both of us.

Hey Congratulations!!

Very good--you have a couple of years on me and my wife.

As to shouting matches speak for yourself girl.. [Smile]

Just kidding, we have fewer than I, at least, would expect but there have been a couple....this year.

Its the "over all" that is important.

Best and all that...let me make a pathetic attempt to relate it all to my own life...I'm relating to three cats on a semi-regular basis at the moment...my niece, at last report, works for Goodwill...it took me years to find just the right wallet when Wilson's Leather stopped carrying the ones I liked, but Bealls had some kind of knockoff version cut the same way...gall bladder problems can be a real problem, even when it's not your gall bladder...Applebees is okay; but instead of going out to eat this afternoon, I made spaghetti instead...

Thanks LD. The shouting matches are far and few between for us too. But disagreements are part of marriage. Most of the time we either work it out or they blow over. We probably average less than one a year... or less.

Robert, you are definitely one of a kind, my friend. I know you mean well, and thanks.

I picture Crystal as someone out of a Stephen King novel right here lol...

All jokes aside congrats on the day and the anniversary. [Smile]

Congratulations Crystal! That is fabulous! It gives us single people a reason to try to not settle for less...

Or I guess we could all get cats. Robert, are any of your cats expecting?

Again congratualations!

I can help it. My head is so up another part of my anatomy I can't help talking about myself when I'm trying to talk about others. (See?) Even when I mean "congratulations."

*****

Nahh...three males, near as we can tell. One is somebody's misplaced housecat, who just wandered up one day...the other two are soon-to-be-former feral cats. (One hasn't shown for two days but he's done that before, too.)

Oh we have cats too. What's a farm or stable without barn cats? But they're not pets. They have a job to do... besides reproducing. lol

My husband is allergic to cats in enclosed places. So we can't have cats in the house. If we could, I'd have two or three house cats along with the dog (Sal weighs in around 57 pounds and is a German Shepherd/Boxer mix.)

So anyway, we average anywhere from 5 to 10 cats a year. Right now we have an even mix: 2 males and 2 females.

And I guess I used the wrong word with deadly. I was just trying to emphasize how some newlyweds think those words are nothing more than ritual and not a promise to the Lord. Steve & I believe you don't break a promise meant to last a lifetime to the Lord. And if the couple can't say it and mean it, then they shouldn't be getting married in the first place. Sometimes I wonder if some couples would never tie the knot if they realized those vows are for real, a way of life, and meant never--and I mean NEVER--to be broken.

Our current one cat adopted us. But she is still missing as I first mentioned on another thread.

We have had as many as five cats at the same time, outdoors and indoors.

Yeah, we've heard stories about a cat showing up after two or more months. Our cat was lost only a mile or so from the house.

But we still have time in that two month thing.

About two weeks is the record among our various cats---I should clarify this right now and say all these cats, current and otherwise, aren't living with me, they're down at my parents' house nearby, and I don't feed them, though I do buy a lot of the cat food cans they do eat---anyway, though it's happened elsewhere in my family, we've never had a cat wander off completely and be, er, "unaccounted for." (Even this other one my mother was feeding last year who stopped coming, we've seen him around the neighborhood since---he just lived somewhere else and just came by to cadge a free meal.)

Where I live, it was said that outside cats were disappearing---the monitor lizards were getting them. If that was so, the cats have held their own and made a comeback.
