I'm Anya, and my career as a hunter is finished. Every drought-cursed day of my life I've been taught to hate the water users; what twist of fate cursed me to become something so repulsive? More importantly, how do I keep from becoming one of the hunted myself?

My life is over.

You were a hunter, and clearly you are sentient, and you now fear becoming prey. This begs the question, Anya, did you once hunt those who are like yourself?

C'mon, things can't be as bad as all that, can they?

To answer both of your questions:

My job up to this point has been to track and capture those on my world who call themselves water mages. They are a curse on our society, draining precious moisture for their own personal gain. Their very nature has been outlawed, and those who use magic are hunted down and banished.

I have now become one of the hunted.

As a hunter, how good were you? I ask this because each successful hunt was, in turn, a failure for the water mage you pursued. These are mistakes you should now avoid.

Conversely, when you failed in the hunt, what tactics were in play that led to your defeat. These are the methods you must now learn to employ.

So, is your experience as the hunter deep enough to be of value to you now that you are the prey?

So your only option for survival---if you want to survive---is to use your skills as a hunter to help you elude whoever is hunting you...
