You've never heard of a Sweetstar? Back in the last century, they were the fastest ships out there. They're still good, but nothin like they used to be. I've got a sim on my ship that lets me pilot one, kinda. Dad wants a Sweetstar classic someday, but our cargo bay isn't big enough.
Mara, my ship, is just a light freighter. Nothing special, but she gets us where we need to go.

You can find them everywhere! I heard there's a place called Siren. It's an old star city prototype where you can find anything, for the right price. We've never been there, though.
The classics are really cool, but the new ones look SO sleek. Star Corps really knows how to make good stuff.
By Earth cycles, yeah. I'm 14. A lot of us still measure time that way too. A year back home is a lot longer than you'd expect.

Of course a simulation can be so, so different from reality. These Sweetstars, now...do you drive 'em "as is," or are they fixer-uppers? Do you go to the ship shows and swap stories with the other Sweetstar gearheads?

Haven't been to a show since I was a kid, got to ride in a classic. The simulator works pretty well, there are a bunch of knock off sims, but this one was the top of the line at one point.
No brothers or anything. Mom's working on another ship, but we're meeting her at Norinco Station for a repair. They're not divorced or anything, but work makes them both travel a lot. I usually stay with Dad because we own the ship.

Give it a try. You never know what you need to drive or fix. I hope your ship shows don't get like early 21st century car shows, where the younger kids stopped showing up because the cars got too technical and computerized to soup up...

The Sweetstar Neos are like that, and I'm sure Dad can figure out how to work on them. The Classics are still computerized, but the manual override is easy to install and operate, or so I'm told.
What's a car? You mean like on Earth?

Just a thing you drive around in on the ground, in places where a ship won't get you once you've landed. Never been in one, huh?

Oh... Yeah we've still got those. I spend most of my time on the ship though. I'm sure places like Knorr and Endicott have them.

Places like that probably have these things, also called "ships," that one sails on the bodies of water that often cover areas of these worlds. You might check them out.
