My first ever published story 'An Empty Kind of Love' was published in Escape Velocity Magazine in issue 2. The have done an anthology of the same name and reprinted my story (I got my copy today!).

This story was long listed for a British Science Fiction Award, which was nice for a first story!

Congrats. Love BSF, my two favorite SF authors are British (Reynolds and Banks).

No, I think people are getting the wrong end of the stick. The story got nominated in 2009 when it was first published in 2008.

It was just long listed and never got any further.

Congrats skadder. Well done to get a nomination on your first story.

If that last comment was for me, I meant that one congrats for each time it is published. The anthology is from the same people but it is still published twice and the second time is longer lasting.

I just didn't want to accept congrats under false pretences--they take away your shoes if they catch you doing that.

Is that why I see shoes above streets? Liar, liar, shoes on a wire?

Anyway, congrats, skadder! Readers still love your first sale after two years, and more people will have an opportunity to read it. That's awesome.
