Strange, Weird, amd Wonderful's anthology The Inamimates has reportly, made it's debut. You will find mine and fellow hatrack member, Todd Rathke, contribution to the project in the pages. The blurb from the book highlights his and mine stories. I just hope that doesn't mean the anthology is a two story book of 7,000ish words

Contrats Snapper. It seems that there are many more opportunities for short story writers. Am I correct in this assumtion? I consider my sci fi romances shorts as they are pretty follow-the-dots type stories as all romances are. I'm still looking for the perfect small press publisher to put my space opera series into paper. Amazon would love my money and have been calling to see if I still want to give them $2,000.00 +/- for a two book series. Think I'll stick with e-books for the moment.

Thanks everyone!

Still waiting for my book, Tiergan.

@KellyTharp

There are plenty of places to pitch your type of fiction. Duotrope (still a member) lists 29 publishers of the sub-genre science fiction romance novels - 8 of which are paying.

And you'll find a few magazines that specialize in that sub genre as well. You have a sci-fi romance short? Consider giving Shades of Romance a try. But of course, if it's sci-fi, just about any sci-fi friendly publication would give it a look.

Now here is a reason to celebrate!

A review of the anthology was done by a James W Kirk (no relation - at least not yet). He only wrote reviews of five of the stories but look whose stories he picked out. First my good friend Tiergan...

quote:
"Behind closed doors"
T. A. Rathke

I enjoyed Rathke's story. I'm not sure which was more evil, Wardrobe or the story's narrator. And the narrator switches sides at the end of the story, when the little girl gains the upper hand! "Her lips touched his flesh, her breath soft upon him. `And to think summer has only begun'." The narration, quite suffocating, is the star of this story. There's some violence against children in this story, but certainly not gratuitous. "Behind Closed Doors" was a brave and smart selection for the anthology by Russell.

and mine...

quote:
"The Recycle of Life"
Frank Dutkiewicz

This is excellent work by Dutkiewicz. "The Recycle of Life" fits into the anti-literature genre. Fernando Alegria writes this about anti-literature: "The anti-literature to which I refer is a revolt against a lie accepted socially and venerated instead of reality. The creator who is seen in the act of creation self-analyzes and self-criticizes: discards the false, that which would bring him to perjure the true human condition." Dutkiewicz manages this with a sense of humor too--perfect for the story's theme and genre: is there life after death? Eat (your) peas, dear reader.

Thank you very much, Mr Kirk. This truely made my day.
