Just curious to know the opinions out there.

They're different. Analog is hard core scifi and Assimov's is softer and also includes fantasy. It really depends upon your tastes.

Let me rephrase: Which do You like better? Say you only had enough for one, and they both were printing authors whose stories you tended to like equally, and there was a man standing behind you with a really big gun, saying, "CHOOSE NOW!"
What would you pick?

Analog!!!

Analog, for three reasons:
1. I like hard SF.
2. Analog is the continuation of Astounding Science Fiction, which originally published a lot of the stories that I later read in anthologies when I was a kid.
3. Analog bought a story from me. Of course, I haven't yet gotten around to submitting to Asimov's, so maybe they will, too.

Asimov. They tend to do more character driven stories than Analog.

If you can only subscribe to one, I think I would suggest Asimov's because their range is broader. But if you are only into harder sf, or at least not into any fantasy, I would say Analog.

My husband got me subscriptions to both, plus F&SF and a guitar magazine for Christmas!

Course, now I have to keep up with them! At least I hopefully won't miss out on Eric's story...

Asimov's. More imaginitive stories, at least less constricted.

Asimovs. They seem to have a braoder range of stories on an issue by issue as well as a year by year basis, so I am more likely to find at least one I really like. However, I admit a strong bias toward fantasy and towards markets more likely to buy stories from me (The same thing really, about a 10 to 1 ratio F to SF in my work) so its not much of a question for me really.
