I know it's off topic, but I wanted to make a plug for some ways that you could help our troops in their efforts. It's something near and dear to my heart since I serve in the USAF and am about to deploy.

Mail and care packages are vital to the morale of the soldiers supporting our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of many agencies helping with this is www.opgratitude.com.

Even more important are those care packages going to wounded soldiers. www.OperationFirstResponse.org sends care packages to wounded soldiers. Also, you can contact your nearest base and see how you can support Operation Necessities... this "operation" helps bring toiletries/clothing to wounded soldiers getting medical treatment abroad.

Ultimately, see you guys in a few months-- write on and keep those writing resolutions! I know my fingers will be twitching to get back to my WiP...

Best of luck during your deployment.

And a heartfelt thank-you for your service.

Wishing you the very best luck with your deployment (uneventful, successful, etc.), and many thanks for your service.

Thanks too for the info on how to help - it is good to know (from someone who knows) some good organizations to support.

Come back to us safely. I want to read more of your stories.

Keep your head down and watch out for "friendly" French fire...maybe pretend to be a barn, they can't seem to hit those.

I've sent several boxes of paperbacks over there, I'll see if I can't find some more stuff.

I know I'd rather have a good book than toothpaste :-)

I can't say it any better than the rest of the gang has already, so a simple 'thanks' and 'God bless' will have to do.

Been there, done that(in the Navy) so I know what it's like. Thanks for taking up the slack.
Keep your head and rear down, good luck, and do your best. Hope to hear from you again.

Good luck, Siligurl. Keep your wits about you and come home safely.

HuntGod: I like that you've sent books. We were trading them like mad back when I was deployed. I was a translator doing a lot of checkpoint duty, and having something to read off-shift was a wonderful break from the monotony.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
