By the end of May, I want to finish the revisions to my Christmas Story, find a market and submit.
Work at developing at least one flash story from the past month or so.
Continue participating in the flash challenges at Liberty Hall.

Well, I completed many of my goals, but failed to complete the most important one, which was "try to take over the world." There's always this month. "Come along, Pinky."
I suppose I'll just work on my novella in between brainstorming nefarious plots to rule the world.

2) Get back to my novel (finally!)
3) FINISH COLLEGE!!!! (Holy crap on a stick!!!)

5) Make at least one more story submission-worthy and get it in the mail
6) Participate in at least one Hatrack challenge
7) Get back to critiquing folks' work here, since school will officially stop kicking my tail tomorrow morning

I'll try to write more on both of my stories and at least have tried to start an opening to my new story which I'm going to name "The Call of Faya".
Hopefully it will be more than 3 pages this time. I know it will since I'm officially out of school on the 18th of this month, however I have to drive to Indiana (which is 15 hours from me), but hey, I have all summer. But then, I'll also be working, so I'm going to try to make a collective goal of 3 pages a week. Yeah, that's it, 3 pages a week.

Okay, on my livejournal I committed to 6 hours a week of actual writing and editing. I also committed to 2 hours a week of online writerly groups, which pretty much means this place. I guess I should try to get in an hour now and another hour before bed.

My time usually just goes off on it's own... I have little control over it. I usually at least get weekends completely for writing, otherwise, I'm usually working (that being when I usually pop in here because T1 lines are your friend).

Okay. I only reached three of my goals in April. However, I was coming in late on the whole goal thing. Maybe if I start now, I'll have a chance.

So I'd like to: Breathe in deeply and enjoy life.
Take my toddlers to the park.
Take my teen to a bunch of horror movies.
And thank God I have a wife who puts up with me then take her whereever she wants.

Let my novelette “The Pike” rest for a couple of weeks, read through it once for blaring errors and then send it out. Also by the end of May I want to rewrite my short story “Calvatica” and have it ready for sharing. Lastly, I intend to spend some time thinking about and researching my latest story idea.

Eric - Congratulations! Wondering if you outlined or not, and if you did, how much of an outline/synopsis did you have?

When I started the novel in May 2002, I did not have an outline. By July of 2004 (about 26 months after starting) I had written 17 chapters (plus a prologue) totaling about 50,000 words.
That July, I took a week-long novel-writing workshop from Dave Wolverton (aka David Farland), and he made me write an outline of the novel. The outline/synopsis was 11,000 words long, which is a bit on the long side, but I found it invaluable as I wrote 48 chapters (plus an epilogue) totalling about 100,000 words in the ten months or so since the workshop.
So, am I planning to outline my next novel before I even write the prologue? Yes.

So... my 6 hours a week goal fell pretty flat, though I did some desperate last minute patch-up on my WIP so my in-laws could read it. I wound up not taking any of the turns I was thinking of. Neither of the characters I wanted to bring into the story were right for the tone. I guess that's what makes this autobiographical fiction and not memoir. I mean, if this were my memoir I would totally include the time I met the president of the church. But since it doesn't advance the story...

Had a great month. My novelette, that I've been working on for a year, has gone out. Finished the lastest draft of my short story "Calvatica" and started workshopping it yesterday. On my new story, I actually got more done than I planned. I have an outline finished and a few rough scenes on paper.

Yay! I think I actually met every goal!
Greater than Gold went in the mail about half an hour ago, and I just posted one of my flash stories to F&F.

*sigh* Didn't do so good this month. "Toppled Towers is nearly ready, but "A Special Brew" fell flat on its face and appears to be unredeemable at the moment. On the plus side, I have another month's worth of flashes done. Now to revise some of them!

Autism's in the mail, but I only just sent Angel... to my crit group. Two weeks more for that one, tops. The sybillant will be up on F&F this weekend.
I don't feel too bad. I signed up for Backspace Writer's conference since I posted those goals, and in the interim I managed to compile two query packages for my two novels (which I'll be pitching tomorrow), so...I'm taking a win on this one anyway.

I did much better this month. "Master of Roads" just needs a read through for minor typos, I started Flashing again, I wrote out a rough draft for the Rewrite Challenge then decided it needs a bit more work and managed to critique a few stories somewhere in there.
I haven't worked on my rough draft at all, but I'm almost finished with a vague outline. My only concern about the story so far is that I'm taking the viewpoint of an unsympathetic character who finds redemption through the course of the book. I've learned very quickly that unsympathetic characters are a hard sell and I don't know if I can get the reader to the part where he begins to become sympathetic.
As for my revenge... HSO and I settled out of court. All is well.
