Little notices around with messages such as...

"Earn 30k a year working from home, phone 12345678"
"Give up work today, visit www.getrichquick.co.uk

Stickered to signs, lamp posts and on little wooden signs by the road side?

Or is that just a UK midlands thing?

Not often, but sometimes.

WORK FROM HOME
SNIFF THE PEN AND GET THIN! (about 10 years ago)

...but people will know what you're talking about.

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and there are such things as that posted on every available spot at times--telephone poles, bulletin boards etc.

Hokey.
That's cool then. It was just related to a little story idea I had, but wanted to make sure that everyone would know what I was on about if I included it.

We have a local ordinance against signs, but that doesn't keep them from showing up. Recently: Pillowtop mattress, in new in plastic, $100

Those signs disappear pretty fast. It's the political campaign signs that never go away.

"I lost 3000 dollars in a month, ask me how."

Oops I may have combined two of them.

I'm on a college campus. They're EVERYWHERE. Every bulliten board and post-like object in sight is plastered with them. And my email spam box is full of them.

All the time. I sometimes wonder who actually answers them...

I've seen them here in New England as well.

We've got them in Canada, too. They also show up in the classifieds and with the occassional T.V. commercial.

What if they are messages from aliens? aliens that happen to be selling garbage.

If you find a place that doesn't have them, you will probably find signs that say "Post no bills" instead.

I actually looked at a house owned by some of the people that sell the weight loss pills from those ads.
Somebody must call those numbers, because the house was 3,000 sq. ft. of grotesque luxury and the owners had moved away to spend a couple of years sailing fomr port to port on their yacht.
