I can't believe how long it took me to find this place, but I just wanted to share with everyone a *great* place to start your research on whatever topic you can think of from history to weaponry to diseases and anything else. It gives you an overview and then, if it's not enough, other sources of information.

You just found wikipedia?! Welcome.

Another handy feature, sometimes helpful for writers, is the "random article" link. Looking for some story elements? Go for it.

Random article? Neat! Thanks for pointing that out.

Wikipedia is a great resource that I use all the time when doing research for writing, but it's important to remember that it is not always accurate. For researching matters important to your story, Wikipedia is the start, not the end of your research.

Ditto what EJS just said. Because anyone can edit it, means anyone can post whatever incorrect information they might have. But if you write fantasy, you don't need accurate, you just need inspired. Heh.

And I see Survivor is a "Christine" fan, given his four thumbs up via links.

Because it is open edited, Wikipedia will also tend to be self-correting. But always verify what you read there. You never know if you are coming in right after the guy that deletes every instance of "no, not, don't" etc.

Just pointing out that, although Christine didn't previously know about Wikipedia, Wikipedia has long had the pertinent facts on Christine

By the way, every page has a line at the bottom that says when it was last modified. And most vandalism is pretty obvious anyway.
