Sorry that I've been away,Working! Anyways I have several ideas and I need feedback on them, such as "cheesiness Factors" etc. 1. I've set up seven drakes scattered throughout the world Earth,Water,Fire,Shadow,Light,Wind, and Time and the main characters father transformed into the Wind Drake, and only his (the Fathers) blood can destroy the demon Cortu. Thats right I'm condoning patricide. I also need help with naming Airships. I have a world that is magical and fantastic with some pretty advanced tech. Now i;m trying to steer clear of the name airship since Final Fantasy uses it, How about Sky Ship? Any comments are welcome as well as new ideas you think are cool! Sorry I know that this is not really coherent so please forgive!

Well, not everyone is into Final Fantasy, for instance I never heard of airships before. Is it like a zeppelin?

By "drake" do you mean a male duck? Or is it also a Final Fantasy term?

Anyway, it is not uncommon for a fleet to have names along a theme, like names of states or royalty though there are sometimes rather random ones like the HMS Terror. Who would have thought her last voyage could go so very very wrong? If it were up to me, I'd probably go with greek mythological characters.

An airship can be like a Zepplin, but Its in my stories and later FF games, A giant Jet like plane that can hold 15-20 people. Drake is the ancient race of Dragon like creatures.

So the drake was human? Does he still have memories of being human and behave in a fatherly way toward the (I'm assuming human) MC?

He still has memories, Cortu will toy with him by changing him back to normal for one night then changing back at day break. He goes (In Drake form) to his village Jorheim to destroy it.He destroys it so his sons will follow him so they can destroy Cortu. Its when they get to the Arrendan Monastery do they see Sky ships, and learn that they must recieve willing gifts from each of the Drakes to destroy Cortu. Later Thedaran(MC) learns the Wind Drake is his Father, and his willing gift is his blood. You see magic or "Focusing" courses through every living things Nus(pronounced newse with a S sound not a z it's a Greek Word! ) or "Eye of the Soul". So he gives his blood to his blood which is the ultimate form of sacrifice to desroy the Demon.

I have a problem with sky ship, would you call a boat a water ship? Why not call them something that fits the milue? How would your MC describe it?

Airship is a commonly used term (at least in the UK) that long predates Final Fantasy.

Howver as they ar enot in common usage, no matter what you call them, you may find people think of FF when reading your work. That's just something you'll probably have to live with.

Calling them "zeppelins" works on several levels. First off, pretty much everyone is going to know instantly what a zeppelin is. Second, it has a somewhat foreign flavor, which is good because your POV characters won't have seen them before, so they'll be like "what are those?", and somebody will have to tell them. Third, "airship" has had it.

But you could call them anything, since the POV characters will see them for the first time at some point, so you get free description through the POV.
