Sigh.

It hasn't been long but I'm already going through withdrawels.

Mike, I know I already emailed you but I'll reiterate here: I am so so sorry. If there is anything I can help you with, even just moral support, let me know.

Everyone else, hope you stop by this thread and say Hi at least, I enjoy 'seeing' everyone around.

Same, on both counts.

And hi everyone (*waves*).

Is this the LH Refugee camp?!

Hi Mike,
I don't post much here anymore. I am sad your site is down, you have so many valuabe resources. I hope you have them backed up. I really think your server should be responsible for having backups as well to repair the sites when such damamge is done.

Best wishes,
Abby

waaaaaaaaa...and I just finished my competition story.

Good luck and let us know when you're live again.

Posted by Kickle (Member # 1934) on :

Mike, thanks for posting the bad news here. Liberty Hall has been attacked, but I am sure it is far from gone. I may not be a regular at LH, but I know the people who are and you guys aren't the sort of writers to let this keep you down.
Stick with it Mike, but give yourself time. If there is something I can do to help (besides passing the word) let me know.

In the meantime, a lot of us are huddling over at NoteBored. If anyone would like to come visit, we're still there.

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

We're trying to keep the competition going by completing it over at Notebored. If you are in the competition and don't have a Notebored membership, please let goatboy or Minister know so that someone can get you on there. Obviously we'll have to extend the time for submittals.

Meanwhile, I am working on getting us a new site. The drawback to tall the modifications and proprietary software we had to make the automated system work, is that most of that is gone and will cost a lot to recreate.

Arghh.

My next system will be backed up off-site daily.

Posted by Kickle (Member # 1934) on :

Goatboy, I have a story almost ready to go. I emailed you and have submitted an official "writer registration" to Notebored.Yeh!

Posted by Minister (Member # 2213) on :

Hey, everyone. I think Pyxidis has refugee rations over at the Notebored.

Sorry about all this, Mike.

I'm so sorry, Mike. This sucks.

Posted by Rahl22 (Member # 1411) on :

Anyone give me a link to Notebored? I've never been before.

Posted by Calligrapher (Member # 2985) on :

I just finished writing Flash #50 for the Apex Competition and was trying to submit to the Liberty Hall website. When I saw the Plesk site appear instead of Liberty Hall, I thought I typed in the wrong URL. Then I thought, what if this is an April Fools' joke? Now, after reading these posts, I don't know what to think.

While I'm obviously sorry for Mike, I'm wondering about the contest. Is it cancelled? Has everyone already submitted?

Posted by Lord Darkstorm (Member # 1610) on :

Contest has been extended a week, and with a bit of luck, LH will be up and running again. If anyone joined since December they will have to reregister.

Not sure when the forum will be back up, but keep an eye out and someone will let you know.

http://www.notebored.com/board/index.php

The deadline has been extended for a week while Mike works out the technical details. The backup plan, I believe, is that we'll post at Notebored - but I think he's hoping to have a new site up and running by then.

Posted by Constipatron (Member # 3183) on :

Knew something was up when the site didn't show up. I'll keep an eye out and hopefully reregister when it's up and running again. Good luck.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know what it is and I'll try and do it.

If you'll forgive me for being all Nietzschean; That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Or, as Gloria Gaynor would have put it; we will survive.

OK. Gloria Gaynor sings Nietzsche. I think I need to go have a lie down.

I'm getting a fairly horrible picture...I'm going for a lie down too

Oh no!!!!! I got home late last night(Funeral went as well as can be expected). I checked LH and no dice, so I came here. Now I'm really sad. I'm so sorry Mike. **hugs**. If I can help in anyway, let me know.

Susanna

Ouch. Was busy over the weekend, just made time to check in and found this. Not a lot I can say really except that the people resopnsible deserve to be the main stars of their own horror stories. As luck would have it, Tchernabyelo seems to have come up with the vital horror ingredient to make that plot work pertty well so now it's just a matter of finding them.

I'll also add my offer of assistance to those of the others if there's anything I can do to help out.

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

The single best way to help out is to keep the competition going and to hang around until I get LH back up.

Thank you all for your good wishes. I have some cyberbutt to go kick.

Mike

Posted by Jeraliey (Member # 2147) on :

Hrm. The problem with the "main stars" thing is that they usually survive relatively unscathed. I vote making them the secondary characters who die gruesome, tragic deaths just so you know the situation actually IS serious.

Posted by tchernabyelo (Member # 2651) on :

That works for me.

I've taken a look at notebored but can't register - it appears to require an explicit invitation code.

If anyone would like to mysteriously invite me, I'd pop by, and huddle in the storm shelter with the rest of the LH refugees...

Posted by Silver3 (Member # 2174) on :

You need to check the instructions on this page: http://www.notebored.com to register. But I think some people were able to post on Notebored with their LH pseudos and passwords (not sure of that, though).

Posted by goatboy (Member # 2062) on :

Tch, pop me your email and I will issue an invite to you from NB, along with an access code you can use to get in. Same for any of you other refugees.

Posted by Kickle (Member # 1934) on :

I couldn't get though with my Liberty Hall password. Goatboy and Deanna both came though with the invitation codes and I'm just waiting to be activated. What I should be doing is using this time to polish my story instead of goofing off.

Posted by goatboy (Member # 2062) on :

Kickle, I'm not seeing your user name showing up in the Admin panel. Did you sign on as Kickle? Or did you choose another name?

Posted by Kickle (Member # 1934) on :

No I used my real name: Pat Esden.

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

Oh, oh.

THAT Pat Esden?

Posted by Monolith (Member # 2034) on :

Mike,

I'm sorry about Liberty Hall. If there is anything I can do, even if it's to constantly email you and ask how things are going, let me know.

Of course, IF I'm invited to Dee's Notebored, I'll probably choose the same name as on Liberty Hall.

Just let me know. I check mail everyday.

Once again, sorry Mike.

*waves from Oklahoma*

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

point taken, Monolith. i'll ask someone there to invite you.

Again, so sorry, Mike. Wishing you unexpected serendipities with all this.

Posted by Spaceman (Member # 9240) on :

Mike, even though I haven't participated much since July, I feel terrible about what happened. Best wishes for whatever path you decide to try.

Props to all helping get the LH train back on the rails. Let me know if I can assist.

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

Liberty Hall will rise again. I have a new hosting service. As soon as the domain name transfers, I will get started on rebuilding. We could be back up and running in a week or so.

Posted by Silver3 (Member # 2174) on :

Yipee !!! I hope they're more reliable than the others (but that's not hard...)

Posted by Susannaj4 (Member # 3189) on :

YAY!!!!!

Posted by ely (Member # 2558) on :

Hey Mike,

I haven't participated in awhile, but I still lurk the forums and such when I have the time. Sorry to hear about the site, but good for you for ditching the old provider and getting a new one. I used to work at a hosting provider, and it just amazes me they didn't have backups.

Anyways, thanks again for the great job you and all the admins do. Here's hoping I'll be the first to submit on the next LH challenge!

Will someone send me an invitation code?

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

I thought you already were a member there. Sorry.

On the way.

We have liftoff. We're not in orbit yet, but soon.

Stay tuned at www.libertyhallwriters.org/index.html .

Mike, I was being sarcastic on the IF.

But thanks for the invite to Goatboy and Dee.

Just let me know if you need any kind of help from an non-programming guy. (that's me by the way).

Bizarre. It was working this morning, but now all I see is the Plesk page. Oh, well. We'll figure it out eventually.

Posted by goatboy (Member # 2062) on :

Mary, I just sent an invite to you. Any other refugees in the crowd?

Mike, I hit your link and got the new hall without any problem. It's just sort of a generic intro page, though.

Posted by Survivor (Member # 213) on :

No, that's the Plesk page.

Forget your sadness, anger, grudges and hatred. Let them pass like smoke caught in a breeze. You should not
deviate from the path of righteousness; you should lead a life worthy of a man. Don't be possessed by greed, luxury,
or your ego. You should accept sorrows, sadness and hatred as they are, and consider them a chance for trial given
to you by the powers...a blessing given by nature. Have both your mind and your time fully engaged in budo, and have
your mind deeply set on bujutsu.

Thanks, Survivor. That's exactly what I need right now.

I wonder if there's a similarly compact expression of that sentiment in English?

Posted by goatboy (Member # 2062) on :

Don't worry, be happy?

Posted by mikemunsil (Member # 2109) on :

Liberty Hall is back up and running. Please feel free to get back on. There is little in the way of content, but we are working on it.

If we have the trigger submittal system back up and running tonight, as scheduled, we should be running the Year One competition at Liberty Hall on Monday. Otherwise, it will be hosted at Notebored.

Thanks to Lord Darkstorm and Chris C. for their hard work.

Posted by Survivor (Member # 213) on :

No, it's more like "Godspeed", but it means "get to work". Those two sentiments don't coincide in most English phrases.
