Kathleen invited me to post this in Open Discussions. Apparently I am the only one to comment to her that when I am submitting a reply to a post, something has changed. It used to be that I could submit a reply and if I'd forgotten to fill in, say, my password, I could hit "back" on my browser and return to the message box and find my message still there. Fill in the password, hit "submit" and voila! Message posted.
NOW, if I screw up, I get the "Sorry, you didn't fill in all the information" page and when I hit "back" I go back to an empty message box, devoid of my clever thoughts. How annoying! It just happened to me again on another post, and I'm learning that I'd better copy my message to the clipboard each and every time I hit "submit" because this happens to me even when I HAVE my password filled in.
Am I the only one this is happening to? Or has anyone else noticed (and been annoyed by) this difference?

Still works the original way for me. a) What browser are you using? b) Are you hitting the Back button on your browser? or one of the links or buttons on the page? I only have text retained if I hit the back browser.

I'm still on the same computer, and the same browser I was before: Windows XP, Explorer 6.0.
I noticed the problem right about the time they switched the banner at the top, when "Empire" began to be advertised and the "Must be 18" was dropped.
I lose my text when I hit the back button on my browser. But the issue is that when I hit "submit" I'm carried to a new screen that says "Sorry, you forgot to fill out all the information..." and when I hit "back" the message I just wrote is gone. This happened to me earlier today when I'd already BEEN posting, so I know my user name and password were already being recognized by the system.

I just tested to see what would happen if I 'forgot' either my username, password, or both. I'm not experiencing the problem you describe. Sorry.
EDIT to add the word 'not', which is rather central to getting my message across.

This has also been happening to me. Lately, I've just been gritting my teeth and preparing/editing/revising all posts in Microsoft Word (which also crashes from time to time...I guess I just can't win).
In other words, I feel your pain.

No, things are okay on my Mac. But my PC at home plays up ever since I messed around with my virus software settings. Have you done anything like that?

I've tried to figure this quote out a few times. Not sure if it's as stright-forward as it seems. What does it mean?

A writer writes and submits. Someone who wants to be a writer tells everyone at parties how much they've always wanted to be a writer.
The latter is much more glamorous than the former.
But then again, I've always hated parties...

^^^ 'Xactly right. It's supposed to be both an encouragement to those who write and submit (regardless of whether the work is published, or not) and an admonishment to those who talk about writing, submitting, and being published but never get around to actually trying it. For me, it acts as both...depending on how well or poorly I'm following the advice at any given time. I guess that's why I use it as a signature. Gives me a little kick in the arse every time I read it.

Seems like I've been losing my cookies every week, not just here but elsewhere, too. But I'm pretty sure it's somewhere on my end, with a bunch of new security software I installed months ago. I've got to sit down and untangle the problem one of these days, but so much else commands my attention.

I have a subscription to McAffee for my security software, and they randomly update stuff behind the scenes. However, a couple of months ago they DID revamp the entire program. Perhaps there is a connection there. I don't know how to get my cookies back the way I had them, if it IS a deleted cookie that kept the message in the box. yeah, I think mine is security software related, don't know how to fix but haven't really looked yet.

I'm using Mozilla, by the way. So I had my other screen name at first and then I typed in this one with no password, and then I tried to submit it. The post was still there when I hit "back", but so was the old screen name and password.
