Did you write? 06-04-07

As to the question of the day, I guess I can say yes. A writing partner, Nancy, wrote a story for my Waxy Dragon Series, and I did a heavy edit. She knew it was long, so I split it in half and am working on the second half. I hope to have both of them finished with all our editing by the end of the week.
I still have the other Waxy Dragon story I started, to dig into. I am working my way to the more interesting stuff, but mainly have to get there.

Still doing well on my story ideas. Getting more than I can post, which I like. There are times where my mind goes blank so I dig deeper into my "compost pile" of ideas. The more good ones are buried there, the better I like it. At this second, I am one idea ahead for the month. Considering how early this is in the month, it is unimportant. A lot will happen to cause me to get a little behind.

Had a good weekend for woodworking. I carved a flower, prepared a blank for a second one, and made three small vases, none great but I made them. Right now I have started the process of finishing them, with sanding and varnishing them which will take a week or two.

How is your life doing, and

Did You Write?

I did indeed write. Not as many words as I would have liked, but as I'm getting back into the swing of regular writing, I'm content with baby-steps. This marks the fourth day in a row I've beaten my minimum daily word count of 1,000 words.

I've decided that every fifth day I'll also take some time to go back and edit lightly for consistency, because I know that if I don't I'll only become more harried as time goes on.

Pleased that I can answer yes this time!

Mostly I've been revising a novelette---trying to cut it to twenty thousand words. Damn painstaking stuff, going over it page by page and taking out one or two words at a time. Along the way, I wonder if I'm taking out vital story points or rephrasing sentences in a way that makes them meaningless. Ah, well...when I finish, I'll print it out and send it out somewhere. (I spend about as much time on it as I would turning out fresh copy.)

Of course, I've worked-in-thought on my novel. But last Friday I came up with a good (maybe) original (probably not) idea for a story that I'll try to get to when I finish the revising.

I wrote about two lines. I'm about half way through chapter 2, and realized I needed to document the city more so I knew where things were geographically. I stopped and worked on some idea I had for a short story.
