I found this interesting from Publisher's Weekly:

quote:
Tor Books announced today that novelist Brandon Sanderson has been chosen to finish writing the final novel in Robert Jordan’s bestselling Wheel of Time fantasy series. Jordan—described by some as Tolkien’s heir—died Sept. 16 from a rare blood disease. The new novel, A Memory of Light, will be the 12th and final book in the fantasy series which has sold more than 14 million copies in North America and more than 30 million copies worldwide. The last four books in the series were all #1 New York Times bestsellers.

Now I have to go look up Brandon Sanderson...

Not a big topic though is it! I'd never heard of him.

I read Elantris and loved it. Wow--what an honor. I'm happy about the choice.

Brandon Sanderson is one of the best authors I have ever read. His work is awesome; Wrath of Ascension will be under the Christmas tree for me, and I can't wait!

I just did a little reading about him. Apparently he is very good at magic systems. There is so much out there I just don't find it possible to keep up with everyone. Even if I could afford that many books--which I can't--there wouldn't be enough hours in the day.

I may pickup the Mistborn one though. I'm interested in what he does with the magic to make it unusually well done which is what I read.

I'm too out of touch with the market to know who's what. I have heard the name; don't know the work.

Too out of touch, Robert? I haven't even read Robert Jordan.

Not since one of his Conan books. Once again, I was waiting for a series to be complete...and Jordan wouldn't be the only writer to leave an incomplete series behind. (I intended to avoid that by making my books stand alone, even if part of an extended series---but I haven't gotten that far yet.)
