So, today was my birthday, and do you want to know my absolute favorite gift?
I FINISHED MY NOVEL!
*dances a happy jig*
This is a great moment for me. It is the first novel that I have ever actually completed. My first three attempts never made it past 30 pages, and now I am sitting on 620!
Of course, I have a ways to go yet before I send it off to agents, but this is still a great milestone.
I want to thank all of you guys on Hatrack. I come on all the time and you all have never failed to inspire and motivate me.

DONE!!!! Oh yes.

Very cool. Way to go! I recently finished my first novel, but it is a svelte 320 pages. I'm editing it now and was planning on bulking it up a bit, but it's a pretty simple story and I don't want so much parsley that you can't see the steak.

The day I finished I printed it out, put it in a three ring binder, and showed it to a few friends. By that I mean I showed them the first page and fanned through the rest of the pages. I don't want anyone to read it until I'm finished with the first edit.

Congratulations again, and sorry for stealing a bit of your sunshine by injecting my own stuff in your thread. Keep us updated!

Aw, thanks everyone. You are all great.

I'm still dancing that happy jig, though I'm ready to dive into the editing process. I'm sure you'll see my first 13 up soon. I look forward to all of your fantastic advice.

P.S. Rommell, it took me almost a year to write. And, I passed 21 a while ago.
