I have to say, when I saw "Rowling" in the subject I rolled my eyes and passed on at first. I eventually clicked through and read the speech. It's really good. Really inspirational and well-written. Thanks for posting that.

It also had some interesting tidbits such as that she started writing many years before she was an over-night success.

Y'know, I'd always wondered if any pre-Harry works by Rowling would ever surface. On the one hand, they might not be as good...on the other hand, at this point in her career she could publish, as is said, old laundry lists and find an enthusiastic market for them.

I really enjoyed how she talked about her desire to get a true education, and didn't want to just settle for a "career path." Her knowledge of the classics (such as Greek mythology) gave her stories a depth that few writers today can match.
