I do wonder if some of the interiors aren't photoshopped. Nevertheless, I think they are awe-inspiring.

There's a reason why they say "This place has character". You could definately build a story, literally, from the ground up from some places. I wonder why some places actually make us feel like they are more alive than, say, the customer service agent at the Verizon booth?

Because they have history.
Who carved their initials in the wood? How many hands smoothed the arms of the chairs? who eat at the table? Who arranged the dried flowers?
