I am in one of those weird life positions where it would be possible for me to disconnect for the 6 weeks that is required for the Clarion workshops and I may be able to fund it.

I am seriously considering applying to the Seattle and/or San Diego Clarions for next summer. I did some spelunking on the site and find little in the way of comments around these workshops.

I would like to know if anyone here has attended? Applied? Known someone who has attended or applied and would be willing to share their experiences. Its a chunk of cash, and because I am a consultant, (no vacation days) it would hit me in lost revenue as well. However, I am still considering...insanity or passion, not sure...8)

My personal goal would be to condense a lot of learning into a short time. To emerge from the workshop a better and more knowledgeable writer- essentially bump it up a bit. Of course, all this may be totally moot if I am not accepted!

Comments?

I'm a Clarion Graduate. Back in the 80's. I was the first person to bring a computer to one. It was at the u of Michigan at the time. I wish I hadn't and could attend now. I know and understand so much more and could better utilize the opportunity. Sigh. Yes, if it hasn't changed from then, it was well worth the sacrifice to attend.

I was sore tempted to try to attend...but when I was footloose and fancy free I was also flat broke, and when I had the money I didn't have the time. Besides, I'm not a social creature, and I'd probably be intimidated-to-excess by the amount of work I'd have to put into it.
