Is it just me, or does everyone experience this:

1. You write a story and think that this one could be suitable (may win) WOTF. Its exciting because this one's different...

2. You polish said story...it's okay, and you'd be happy if it was a semi-finalist.

3. You check it for typos, and realize that you'd be lucky to get an HM.

4. You read story for the 50th time just before you post it and it appears to have no merits whatsoever. It will be rejected.

5. You post it, but you know now you wasted the postage. You hunt for a rope in the garage.

After 8 of them, I enter the contest expecting to get Honorable Mention.

I get that feeling, sooner or later, with every story. But I send them out when they're done, even though I'm so sick of them I don't want to read them again. (Of course, WotF isn't my notion of a first port of call...)

Absolutely.

However, I would expire long before I could stand to read one of my stories fifty times.
