All,

If this is the wrong forum to post such a message, may the Power That Be please extend her Mighty Hand of Justice against me.

I'm looking for someone familiar with Jewish and/or Israeli customs upon whom I can bounce cultural questions. A fair segment of my current novel WIP is based in Tel Aviv, and I would like to be able to pick someone's brain to ensure some level of accuracy.

Given accurate enough information, I am willing to compensate the source in some fashion.

Reply here if you are interested, or ping me at rdrhoads at dev-null-productions dot com.

My knowledge is pretty thin, but I studied Israeli history in an "official" University setting, so I have the detached-distant-superficial-academic knowledge of some parts of the conflict over there, if that helps, and a few ideas of resources.

Go ahead and ask me if you want, worst I could do is say I don't know. If I don't, I may be able to point you in the right direction...

I appreciate the offer.

Just to clarify, I'm looking for someone I can bounce questions concerning typical customs, points of interest, perhaps even some dialogue. General history I'm okay with, and doesn't particularly pertain to the story at hand. But I really need someone that can look at a particular scene and tell me that, "No one that lives in Tel Aviv would ever do that," or "Forget what you've named this place. Name it this instead."

If this is up your alley, please let me know!

Not exactly my alley. not even a side street, come to think of it... I would recommend finding some Israeli chatrooms.

I found this on a quick google search, the conference is passed, but the contact info may still provide a fruitful avenue to get directions to what you are looking for:
