This should probably be obvious to me, but how do you edit your own post? Many people add a second try to their 13's or fix something they've said and I've never figured out how.

There's a tiny icon just above your post (paper and pen, right next to the profile button).

RoxyL, when you look at a post you have written (after you've posted it), you will see, on the same line as your name, a date and time that you posted.

To the right of that, are two or three icons (depending on whether you have made your email address accessible).

The icon with the question mark is a link to your profile, in case anyone wants to know what you've said about yourself.

The icon with the envelope is a link to your email address, if you've made your email address available.

The icon with the paper and pencil is the edit icon, and it will take you to a page that looks a little like the post reply page (or the post new topic page). Inside the reply box on this version of the page, however, you will see what you posted.

(You can use the edit link to see what anyone has posted, but you can't make any changes to someone else's post. The main reason you'd want to see what someone else has posted is to see how they coded things like quotes, or italics, or bold, etc.)

Once you have your post in a text box, you can make changes to it, including adding new stuff, such as another version of your first 13 lines.

Then you submit it and it goes back up in the topic with a note at the bottom saying when you changed the post.

I edit my posts too much. Some times I will edit a post five times before I leave it alone. I get thinking way beyond what I am currently typing and hit submit before I read it. Then when I read it seconds later I am appalled at my own words. Broken thoughts, misspelled words, bad grammar, missed or wrong punctuation, are just the beginning. Sigh...

It's even worse when I am writing notes or dialogue for my novel. I have had to rewrite whole sections due to the fact that I couldn't figure out what was going on. LOL!

All in all, don't be afraid to edit your post as many times as needed. I certainly don't judge; even if I feel watched myself.

I try to avoid editing too much, unless I spot something (a) right away, that (b) seems too awful to let lay. Generally if it's laid more than a day or two I'll let it go.

Or should it be "let lie?" Maybe I should edit...
