I just sent a partial to my first choice agent for MAGE STORM.

Fingers, toes, legs, eyes, all crossed.

I am rooting for you, Meredith.

Wow! I'll cross a few for you, too. That's great progress no matter what.

Good good.... Nice book so someone will like it. Be sure to keep us abreast of communications.

But are you sending it to just one?

No. The process is slow enough as it is.

I sent out five queries this week. So far, one rejection, one request for partial, and three I haven't heard back from yet. About five more will go out next week. No sense in standing still. It could be as much as two months before I hear back on the partial.

That seems fast even for an E-mail world.

Hmm, now that could be an interesting idea for a story. I've wanted to do a cyber-punk story...now wouldn't that be a kick, my first book published is cyber-punk.

Anyway, Good. I forget who said it now, OSC or DWS maybe, anyway five is suppose to be a good number. And looks like I was right about someone wanting it.

Could I have the name of that agent in six months?

Well, yeah. But you should remember that an agent that's appropriate for a middle grade second world fantasy, might not be the best choice for an urban fantasy or cyberpunk.

Oops, wrong book. I was thinking Mage Storm was urban...duh. Too many titles running around in my head at the moment.

You go, Meredith!

Should have said this last time

To use a modern cliche You go Girl. The idea is good, and from what very little I have read the writing isn't bad either so you will find a home for it.

Thanks, everyone.

I really hope this is the one.

Rats. Wipe out.

Oh well, time to send some more out.

Sorry to hear that Meredith.

Congrats on sending it out! I really enjoyed it

Still, you are making progress, even if the agent declined.

One down but how many to go?

A few years ago my local paper had an article about a local writer. It had taken him over two years to get a publisher to look at his novel but it was eventually picked up and published, his second took a matter of weeks but the reason for the article was that the first book that had taken him so long to get published won an award for writing.
