I love dragon stories! So here's an intro challenge with a dragon theme.

prompt

You have a little over a week to post (or send your entry)--competition closes at noon (GMT) on Monday, the 25th of April (that’s 7am EST, USA).

Just 13 little lines, it's great practice, and you never know what future masterpiece will be inspired! Come one, come all, let’s have a little fun.

Sorry, teach, a dragon ate my manuscript.

Rats - I just wrote mine about a dragon (and am now turning it into a poem). Maybe I'll change my character's name of Rand into something more original like Ender.

Sidebar - draconic was a recent entry in Reader's Digest vocabulary quiz. It was all sf/f words. I tried to post a link, but I think it was in the print version only.

Draconic is not to be confused with draconian. Completely different words.

Your characters' full name could be Fire Ender Zuko! (Da-da tcha!)

If you haven't been over to the entries thread yet, you really should check it out. Each entry to date is unique, and brilliant. I asked for dragon stories, but I am just floored by the quality of what has been offered. And there is still nearly a week left!

I was asked this over in the challenge section, but I thought that I would answer it here as well.

Yes, multiple entries are more than welcome.

And one other side note, you are welcome to vote in this one even if you do not have an intro to submit. All that I would ask is that if you wish to vote but have not participated otherwise, then take the time to offer critiques as well.

This is my favorite group of entries to date. (Small wonder, considering how much I love a good dragon tale.) But seriously, there are some truly wonderful entries, come read and enjoy.

This is just a reminder that the entries thread has been closed for submissions and opened for voting.

Voting will last the shorter of either one week or until all entrants have voted. Until the voting is closed anyone who wishes to may vote as well. I would ask that if you are voting but did not submit an entry, please take the time to crit the entries.

There are a lot of really unique and amazing entries, I hope you’ll stop over and enjoy. After all that’s ultimately what we’re doing all this for, reader’s delight.

I posted this in the other thread, but for those who missed it...

quote:
Since we still have six people who have yet to vote, including one of the frontrunners, I've decided to extend the deadline by two days. I know there are a lot of entries (and not everyone loves that as much as I do), so if you need to, just post your votes and come back to the crits later.

So the new deadline is noon (GMT) on Wednesday, May 4th (that's 7am EST, USA). After that time all votes will roll down as stated in the rules.

Thanks guys
