This challenge is designed to get us thinking, for a few minutes, in a totally different mindset / genre.
So take some time and come up with your best start for a hard boiled story and the title of Noir Champion will be yours.

This is a reminder for those who haven't entered. You have this weekend to post, but on Monday morning while most of you are sleeping, I'll be here closing this puppy out.
Post now, or forever hold your piece.

Mmm. I tried a couple of starts, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Good luck with it though!

Aww, come on Skadder, you can do it. You just have to accept the purple and you'll be OK. =)

I think the noir you are talking about seems to be VERY american. We had noirish stuff in the UK but it wasn't 'Jimmy Knuckles' and 'dames'--so it would have a very different feel. I can't do that kind of american voice.

Hey, I can be purple with the best of them...

Actually, I don't think our noir is Jimmy Knuckles. It's more like, "Hey Dix, how's Trix?" Star Trek TNG had some great holodeck noir scenes. Well, without the black and white and dark alleys.
Thanks for bumping this. Reminded me to tell folks the voting is done and the results are in.
