This blog post is titled, "5 Techniques to Improver your Literary Short Fiction" but I think the techniques are important for writers of all kinds and lengths of fiction. Please check it out.

And then see if these techniques won't help you when you offer feedback in the Fragments and Feedback areas as well as in your own writing.

Those are excellent tips for writing, particularly the first one about logical causation. Causation fallacies slam plot movement into neutral, a standstill, or worse, into reverse. Logical causation is the coal stoking a plot freight train's fire box.

Two of the causal fallacies I encounter often: Cum hoc, ergo procter hoc; with this, therefore because of this.
Post hoc, ergo procter hoc; after this, therefore because of this.

Temporal nor spatial correlation imply causal correspondence.
