Do you want to start a blog, but you don't know where to start?

Do you have opinion's that the world needs to hear...about writing?

Do you fling red vines at grammar errors?

http://theprosers.blogspot.com/

is looking for two consistent and awesome people who can commit to posting once a week.

Check us out, and see if our style of posts is consistent with what you would like to write.

If so, email me at shimiqua@gmail.com. Please attach a sample blog post into the email.

I'll post guest Proser posts every Friday. If you have your own blog, but want to blog swap, email me your guest post, and we will link to your blog.

The Prosers is an InkPageant award-winning blog with almost 19,000 page hits in five months. We are all female writers, (it's true) but are willing and interested in expanding our voice, and diversifying the conversation.

We don't care what you write, as long as you write.

So, (to recap,) If you are interested in becoming the next Proser(s) email me a blog post at shimiqua@gmail.com. If you are interested in being posted in Prosers, but don't want to commit, send me an email, but say you don't want to be in the running for an official position.

I would love to, but I don't think I could put together one blog as well as you ladies do - consistently.

A while back I was wondering if you'd be open to guest blogs. If you leave that category open, which is a great idea, then I will "tryout" for a guest spot once in a while, if that's cool.

Did you send it to shimiqua@gmail.com?

It's not popping up yet. It could just be my email is slow, but could you double check?

Very good site, shimiqua.

I've been postponing creating a blog until I go part-time or retire in three years. I don't have much time to make the commitment you require at present, nor do I think I have enough subject matter on the subject of writing to share each week other than my likes/dislkes on what is publishable today (and how I find most pale compared to the sf and fantasy tales of past decades) and the angst of making the attempt to "break in" to traditional publishing or choosing the "don't worry, be happy" path of self-publishing. This would grow boring for your readers, I believe

Also, I wouldn't wish to bring down the tenor of enthusiastic erudite young women writers with my old man grumbles and pithy wit (mostly pith and vinegar) [Wink]

But I've bookmarked The Prosers and look forward to peeping in at times for a look-see....um, "looking in at times,"... I mean "visit." >blush<

[Is this microphone on?]

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

My wife once sent a pithy email to a law firm because the poor grammar in one of their TV advertisements. She then made a grammar error in the email.

I chuckled (out of earshot).

Which brings me to this: "Do you have opinion's that the world needs to hear...about writing?

Do you fling red vines at grammar errors?"

Anyone notice the errant apostrophe?

Awesome blog, but I just had to point that out.

I would characterize that as a typographical error and not a grammatical one [Smile]

A grammatical error would be the absent preposition in:

"My wife once sent a pithy email to a law firm because [of] the poor grammar in one of their TV advertisements."

We all, even proofreaders and editors could do with a rigid grammarian once in a while. However, that raises the question of personal aesthetics implications. Beyond the primary principles of grammar's usefulness for reading ease and communicability comes artful personal choices that deviate from Standard Written English for rhetorical purposes.

I caught some serious grief over using the discourse marker uh-huh in a creative work. She said she didn't know how to intrepret the term. I wanted to scream it's in dictionaries with an unequivocal meaning, period. Besides, the choice was mine for the sake of a character voice.

She also got on my case for spelling pixy with the masculine Y instead of the feminine IE. She loved the story but had to dig hard to come up with supposed flaws in order to seem grammatically knowledgeable. Bring it on. I get to make my own rules, period. She wasn't the target audience, who has a little more vivid of an imagination than that.

On topic, I want to contribute a guest blog on personal rule making as opposed to following some arbitrary, irreproachable creative writing authority, but I'm so busy for the next several weeks I can't stop for long enough. C'est la vie.

Shimiqua, can't commit to the regular, but I wouldn't mind trying to send you a guest blog once a month or so. I'm working one that I was going to post on mine, but I'll just send a link to Prosers if yall like it.

LOL, you mean guest PROSERS, right? [Wink]

I've read a few things on The Prosers blog before. It is a good blog. I already try to blog once a week on my own blog (with mixed success), so I don't think I can commit to writing in two blogs. But it sounds like you are getting enough interested people.
