Sense of taste:

This is closely related to sense of smell, but I thought I'd throw it in here anyway. What kinds of magic powers would go with tasting (besides being able to detect poison, though that can be up for discussion as well)?

What could go wrong with such powers?

Well, there's the way TV detectives have of tasting white powder and telling it's heroin. Just once I'd like to see one taste a pinch of white powder, spit it out and say, "quicklime".

I'm inventing a new form of magic, just for this question: glossomancy -- divination by tasting. Feel free to use it, anyone.

While I'm at it, I'll invent a second one: being able to conjure the soul of the animal you are eating (don't try this with hamburger).

I thought the ability to recognize different liquids were just sharpened senses of taste or etc which reminds me of Professor Dumbledore (from Harry Potter)recognizing the taste of dragon blood in HP6.
I would personally consider adding potion making into this category or also the ability to re-energize through sucking people's blood would fall into this category.
I hope this helps

A few times I've seen a TV detective spit it out and proclaim "flour" or "sugar" instead...
