I got a few personalized rejections on THE BARD'S GIFT (even though they'll tell you such a thing doesn't exist).

This is the first time I've gotten something like this, though.

We did notice on your blog that you have been working on revisions. If you would like to submit a revised version of MAGE STORM or any other work that you are creating, we would love to read more from you.

We look forward to keeping in touch.

That is awesome! Did you put a link to your blog in your query letter or did they google you?

There's a link to my blog in the signature block.

What's interesting is that there wasn't any blog post specifically about MAGE STORM. It was just mentioned in a couple of posts back in December, when I got into Pitch Wars, so they must have read fairly closely.

Interpreting the comment about the blog--this publisher does due dilligence. They checked into your writing career status. And probably plumbed into other areas of your emerging celebrity. Something about your query besides the signature block blog link triggered their curiosity.

I know that Donald Maass' Literary agency does request a look at substantively revised novels; however, the practice is rare. If another agency does as well, I'd be curious to know whom.

Will respond privately, because I don't like to publicly comment--even positively--on agents.

In this case, it's a "boutique" agency specializing in children's and young adult literature. Also, one of the few that actually wants to see the full ms as part of the query, so I guess this is about the only kind of "request" they'd send out. [Smile]

I'm going to wait a week or two and give the revisions a read-through before resubmitting. I don't think I left any consistency issues, but it won't hurt to be sure. [Smile]
