This is an excerpt from the first novel in a series I am developing. A dedicated reader, perhaps a fellow novelist to swap chapters would be immensely helpful, but any offers and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.


Lassick used to wonder, besides the drink, Why his brother spent his time in a place like this. Gemelli was nearly his opposite, he realized. He always had to be the center of attention, as he was at this very moment. Lassick spotted him amidst a large and rowdy group toward the back room of the tavern near the darkened window overlooking the harbour.
Unsavory eyes fell upon him as he made his way through the crowd. Most, were no doubt leary of him, as they sized him up as a cut purse. Why else would a boy of his age and small stature be in a place such as this. These hardened characters would soon grow tired of his presence, so he hurried to carry out what he came to do. Not sure how I missed this one. Sorry about that.

Sounds like an interesting scene set up. I'd be willing to swap, but I'm slow right now on crits since work is insane and will be through year's end.
