Hey, I'm John Fletcher.

I am looking to form a 4-6 person Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy Writing Group. If you would like in, please respond.

As a teacher, with finals rapidly looming ahead, I may not be able to get back to you before mid-June. My apologies.

Thanks.

Hey,
What would you require from us.
I want to be part of a group but have work projects lined up until the end of January. so spare time will be at a premium. What sort of turn-around are we talking about ie; one submission every 4-6 weeks? I'd be up for that.

Tis is John Fletcher, of the Hatrack community. You expressed interest in my Sci Fi/ Fantasy group, and I wanted to send you information. Sorry about the delay, I have been busy with work.

The group would require a submission every month or so (4-5 months). The submissions would not always have to be of the Science Fiction or Fantasy genres, but usually so. You would be required to read the other member's entries and get them back before the next turn-in date. The submissions would be either a chapter of a novel, or a short story.

Hope you all are still interested.

-John Fletcher

I'm happy everyone still seems interested. I would like to get this started for us right away. Lets say that our first submission is due on the 1st of August. By that time, I hope to have the final number of participants, and a critiqing system worked out. Please e-mail me with your e-mail adress you will be using. Thanks!

I hate to be a bother, but if there's room in this writing group I'd be more than happy to contribute. rob.whitney@gmail.com

If this is still open, I'm game, especially if you'll stop using "sci fi" and say "SF" LOL. To me, an old timey SF reader, Sci Fi is a TV channel. SF is a genre of literature. Amateurs say "Sci Fi", professionals say SF. LOL Picky I know...Alley

We have not heard much about what is happening and it's hard to email John Fletcher when we can't access his email address.

So I took it upon myself to follow this up and have emailed everyone that I could.

I don't know about you but I am still interested in doing it.

The rules are:

"The group would require a submission every month or so (4-5 weeks) submissions would not always have to be of the Science Fiction or Fantasy genres, but usually so. You would be required to read the other member's entries and get them back before the next turn-in date. The submissions would be either a chapter of a novel, or a short story."

I propose that we say that submissions and feedback be made by the 1st of each month.

Who agrees?

Shall we start with the first submission on 1 August as per John Fletcher's suggestion?

PS: There seems to be 10 people in the group.
Let's limit it to that as I think I will struggle to get through them all in a month.

Also: We should decide up front the depth of critique we are aiming at, so if you could maybe preface the story with a statement about what you are wanting from the cric that will probably help.

Shall we also have a word count limit? For instance 2000 words?

What thoughts/suggestion do you guys have?

Thoughts?

Sounds good to me.

I think we'll need to limit but would like to send out in ~4500w chunks (approx chapter length for me) but this'd be possible only if we split into two groups. I'm happy to work with a 2000 word limit.

Last thought I had was in 1985.

Okay Great! t looks like we will have our first submit by August 1.

Last Cossack, I hope you check-in before then. I think you're planning on submitting by then anyway so we will look forward to that.

We will see how the first submit goes and any adjustments that need to be made we will make on the fly.

Good writing(or luck as the case may be...)
