Everybody's still too stuffed with turkey to move? I'll start, then.

quote:
Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
Describe what you worked on.
Set goals for next week.
Did you learn something during this week?
Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

Writing on a novel
Characterization
World Building
Relevant research

Last Week's Goals:

On the Shelf
THE SHAMAN'S CURSE
THE IGNORED PROPHECY

DREAMER'S ROSE: Continue to let this one rest.
Easy goal.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Wait for the critiques of the first three chapters to come back so I can make a decision on whether it really should be YA.
Still waiting. No decision yet.

MAGE STORM: Coomplete the revisions for the third draft.
YES!

SEVEN STARS: Finish reworking chapter one. Do a little on chapter two.
Nope.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Start revisions on my WotF story.
A whole bunch of critiques.
Yes to everything but the revisions. Well, I guess I kind of started this morning.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf
THE SHAMAN'S CURSE
THE IGNORED PROPHECY

DREAMER'S ROSE:
Continue to let this one rest while I contemplate what almost amounts to a rewrite.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Wait for the critiques of the first three chapters to come back so I can make a decision on whether it really should be YA. So far, two out of three responses say that it should be YA.

MAGE STORM:
Let it rest before a final read through. Start polishing the synopsis and the query letter. This one starts going out first of the year.

SEVEN STARS:
I'll keep the same goal on this one. Finish reworking chapter one. Do a little on chapter two.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Start revisions on my WotF story.
Finish the last critique for this month. (Whew!)
Decide whether I'm crazy enough to start a query challenge.
Decide what to work on next.

I did a cover for my NaNo novel. It goes out to some first readers next week. I've also gone through it three times. Not a rewrite but edits. I did such a thorough job outlining, I think the story arc is solid, but there are those darned other elements of writing.

My goal this week is to finish my third edit and look at my Panix novel with the goal of converting it to YA. I think that will be easy because my first draft ended up way too short... like YA size!

I need to rip a character out (the MC's wife. Can't have a child bride in a YA and remove that tacked-on ending I wrote to expand the novel's length.

That will be enough for me.

I didn't make my goals, but I'm happy with my progress even so. I thought of a better first chapter and it kept sticking in my head that I figured I'd better write now before I forget my good ideas. So I got in a lot of writing.

I was supposed to finish chapter four but in changing the first chapter I also changed one of the characters so now I have two different versions of the same character and I'm torn as to which one to use, or whether to keep them both and make a new character. The two versions are very different in personality. The only thing they share is the same name. The problem is that it has made me halt all work while I try and decide.

I guess my goal for next week will be to decide what to do with my mulitpersonality character. Will he be a dark antagonistic love interest or a happy go lucky friend? Or does my MC have both? Decisions!!

I'm still languishing in Chapter 5 of Sandfishing. I think I was getting stuck due to some emotional blockages/doubts, but things are better now. So this week I certainly want to finish Chapter 5 and start Chapter 6.

I also need to edit my WotF story. I have one more critique round for it on another forum and I want to get it posted soon so I have time for some final polish before the deadline.

I am going to bow out of the novel support group for a short while; my emphasis lately has been on projects other than my novels. I'll be back eventually. Until then...

Success!

I finished "Bright Lights and Chaos"--54,011 words.

I started "Storm Born" and "Kin To Angels" up again. Maybe a couple hundred words for each.
