Hope nothing's wrong with William. Hopefully just on vacation. Anyway, I'll start the topic again.

Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

For myself:

Last Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title): Just started.
Well, I didn't set a goal last week. That was probably a good thing.

MAGE STORM: Go over the query letter and synopsis and start sending it out.
Yes to the going over, but not quite ready to start sending it out yet.

SEVEN STARS: Wait.
Easy goal.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Draft a new query letter, look over the synopsis, and start sending it out.
Not much on this one, yet. As soon as I get MAGE STORM sorted out.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title):
It's going slow so far. Barely started chapter 3. And I'm not going to get back to it full time until I've taken care of the queries and synopsis. So let's just say finish chapter 3 for this week.

MAGE STORM:
Go over the query letter and synopsis and start sending it out.

SEVEN STARS:
Wait.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Draft a new query letter, look over the synopsis, and start sending it out.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Hello I'm new here, my name is George Collins and the name i will be going by is Antonio Locke. I am 19 years old and hoping to gain a lot of knowledge from this site and release my first book ( maybe not soon but eventually ). I am also a college student at the University of Missouri - St.Louis majoring in Computer Science.

My First Project is Entitled PURE ENERGY. I actually don't feel comfortable giving any details on it just yet but it's Fantasy/Sci-fi with a little romance.

My Second Project is a mini E-Book I recently Released entitled Vision of a Paramour ( You can read it on my website antoniolocke.com under the "#VOAP" tab for free ).... It's a 10 page book filled with poems that will be released in series each having 10 poems in it. The First Series explains the feelings the male character ( no name ) goes through after going through his first lost love basically learning the Melancholy of it all...
Series Two I writing now, which his life afterwards, falling in love again ETC ETC...

THIS WEEK: ( PURE ENERGY)
-Still writing the background for all my main characters
-Writing Key Notes on why ( whom ever )'s background is important
-Connect the main story to the background for later on when you fill in the lines.

Next Week: (Pure Energy)
- try to writing the beginning to the story ( Still not sure how to start it off, that's the only thing holding me off )

Welcome.

Just start somewhere before the inciting incident. Odds are good to high that you'll change the beginning anyway when you start the revisions.

NSG is up again?
Well, 7 days and not one word in a novel. I'm back to WotF again. It's so addicting. I see all the chatter and anticipation in the crit group thread that I can't resist.

I thought I would be out this quarter too, but was hit in the face with an idea that I'm currently blasting through.

I do hope to be back to the novel soon tho. I was doing well with it. I need more time...

I was a sloth last week. Out of town the weekend before and then so hot and humid my brain had a melt down. A couple paragraphs on BD&L and about the same on The Other Book.

So...for this week...

BD&L at least three chapters. Really have to push, my reader is waiting. A couple of these are basically total first-writes but then I'll be back into re-writing.

The Other Book I'll go for at least two chapters, first go round.

Worked a tiny bit on New Mage ... working on crits.

and a tiny bit on "Angel Kin"... Too hot to take laptop to work.

That's it had to help clean up after four trees were taken out, plus mowing the lawn and then had to do some inside stuff I won't go into detail about and wife used some of my time Saturday evening.
