Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

Last Week's Goals

I decided to stop reading the other book and went with another. I'm enjoying this one more and will continue with it is instead.

I have done a little toward writing by reading some old websites about writing. I'm trying to get all of the old Writing Excuses episodes I've missed so I can catch up. I still have the writing bug, but I need to get this project of mine done in the hope that I can get it up and running enough to help pay for some of my wife's education. Now that school is in session, hopefully things will slow down a bit. She's going to start reading some aspiring writers' works to get into practice editing (content editing mostly).

My goals for next week:

What did I learn this week?

Nothing yet, other than I didn't like the last book I was reading.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title): I'd like to at least go back and look over what I've written, maybe finish chapter 3.
Nope. Haven't even opened the file, yet.

MAGE STORM: Complete the revision and start sending out queries again.
Completed the revision, but decided I needed some eyes on it first.

SEVEN STARS: Get another reader or two for this draft.
Other than the reader I already had lined up, nobody's bitten yet.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Send out two more queries.
Only one.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Go over the WotF story again. Really.

Yes to both, although I haven't finished with the WotF story.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title):
Go back and look over what I've written, finish chapter 3, and move on.

MAGE STORM:
Go over the revision critiques and decide to either start sending queries out again or take another whack at it.

SEVEN STARS:
Get another reader or two for this draft.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Research more agents for this one. Try to send out two more queries.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Polish up the WotF story, figure out how to strengthen the ending, and send it out.

====
I've got one excellent reader on this draft of SEVEN STARS, but I'm open to another chapter exchange. Anybody?

Last Week:

I failed spectacularly, with the result that I now know that I have to write an outline. I spent this week rewriting almost every chapter for consistency reasons. I also think that my novel is going to be too short. So I've learned: outlines can be helpful.

Goals for this week:

Figure out the outline for my novel! Include places for expansion and figure out an ending. I'm stuck at the climax, with no idea how to resolve it. Other than a major war. Which might suck.

Start a WotF Story! And if it gets anywhere put my name on the WotF support list

Find a second chapter exchange person, because I've rewritten so much.

I revised the last 4 scenes, and added a new fight scene (thank you to Meredith for pointing out that they should have a little more trouble getting out!). Even with all my additions, the word count is still at 119k

Next week I'm going to go back and fix the problem I mentioned last week, which will probably affect 3 or 4 scenes. Then it's back to the beginning for revisions on one of my sub-plots. Hopefully this'll go a bit faster than my main storyline.

@Meredith: I don't have anything new to exchange with you, but I'll critique the first 5-6k of SEVEN STARS if you'll take a look at my new opening to NULL PROPHET.

Decided I better add something now or I may have to wait 'till next week.

Yeah, I wrote on my novel today and I hope later this evening. Yea!

I got maybe a page further into the emotional mine field my MC for New Mage has been trapped in for over a month. I hope that later tonight she will realize what is wrong with her. And at the same time see who the bad guy is.

And even though something was done to her the mine field is real... in her heart that is. She realizes she has more emotional baggage and scars than she thought and that she needs her friends. They, especially one, slipped through her armor.

Okay, I came back to say I did work on it tonight got somewhere between four and seven pages typed. And my MC in a new predicament. Fighting something that is halfway herself and half way a Trick someone placed on her... it grew beyond what it was meant to. Feels good to finally work on it.

But no work on the other two novels though.

Oy! I Failed!

My goals were to finish the next scene to my novel and figure out my transportation issue. Still working on the issue. I managed to write the opening to the scene but then put down my writing and took a week off.

Goals for this week:
MUST set a time aside for writing every week. It is so easy for me to make excuses about work, cheerleading practice, football practice, JROTC drills and other such things but the fact is that I have time to write. I just need to stick to it.

FINISH THE SCENE!! I'm having troubles with this particular part in the story but I need to finish it and continue on. I can (and will) rewrite later.

Short Story: I need to pick this up and finish the first draft.

I feel the same FINISH THE SCENE. I want this scene over so I can do the conclusion and get the whole book over. It's late.
