Unfortunately, I have nothing for this week. I've been putting in 11 hour days (without lunch) all week trying to do the finishing details of a web programming project, which launches Monday.

Last Week's Goals:
MAGIC'S FOOL: Wait for more of the crits to come back. Easy one.
MAGE STORM: Keep querying. Two more queries out next week. Nope. I started querying FIRE AND EARTH instead.
FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS): Do final edits. Prepare to query. Yes! Three queries out--and one rejection back already.
BLOOD IS THICKER: Let it rest. Easy one.
THE BARD'S GIFT: Finish prep. Yes, I've even gotten a start on this one.
MAGIC'S FOOL: Start revisions based on crits. There are still a couple out, but I'm getting an interesting mix on this one. Crits that make me stop and say "Okay, three people have said different things about the same part of the book. What is it they're all trying to get at?"
MAGE STORM: Put it on the shelf for now. Only temporarily.
FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS): Two more queries out this week.
BLOOD IS THICKER: Let it rest.
THE BARD'S GIFT: Continue with the first draft. Try to let it build up some momentum.
OTHER: Update my blog twice a week.

Some days you win and some days you're lucky if you break even, but no matter what, you keep trying. (Maybe you can count that as what you learned this week?)

I got to the end of my new opening chapters, and started my first editing pass, putting in the bits of exposition that I missed the first time around.
It'll be another short writing week, so my goal is just to make progress on the editing. For a change of pace, I might also do some brainstorming for North.
While I was out of town last week, I picked up "If Walls Could Talk" by Lucy Worsley. It's a pretty interesting look at the way the home has evolved over the centuries. If anyone's writing fantasy in a pre-modern setting, I think it's worth checking out.

Decided to get this out of the way early-- for me that is.
I wrote in "Stone Within" Had to come back. I forgot that my MC in Stone has just manifested a brand new ability. She is being attacked by fairies--tinkle bell type and they can be mean.
And finally got that second chapter of New Mage done. Really down. I not only cut some stuff about her back ground-- saved it for a liter chapter- but I expanded a scene by far which made the chapter 15,000 words. So I cut it at 7,059 words. The rest became a new chapter three and Ch 3 became four and so on. Now there are eleven chapters.
So I am working on the new Three and may have some of the new four to rewrite also but I forget why.
But I could use some advice on that extra stuff. It needs to somewhere. Maybe spread out among three to five chapters? I just don't know. I've thought about finding the first book of three or four series and reread some sections to see how those writers did it but that could take a while.
Worked a tiny bit on Bright Lights. Chapter one is done and now to go on to revising using some crits I have chapter two. Unless I did it already. I found that most of One was done already.
My goals are to work on both of those and just write on Stone at work, even though tonight I worked on it when my wife was on the main computer with her crafts.
What I Learned?
Again nothing new. Except I realized I didn't know what to do with that extra stuff. That is a blank in my knowledge on the craft of writing novels.
