Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

Last Week's Goals

Wow. Another week already. Time is going by so fast. Guess that happens when you come home and it's nearly time to retire for the night. [Smile]

My goals for next week:

Again, maybe something. I do have some ideas running through my head of some world building I want to do but I get home so tired that I don't have much energy.

What I need to learn this week
Since I have not had much time (or energy, mostly) to do any writing, I've sat in front of the television the last couple weeks. However, that time has been spent watching shows that would count as research for some world building that I want to do for a story (or series) I've been think about for a while.

I've always been fascinated by human behavior and reaction. What would happen if society suddenly collapsed *literally* over night? How would we react? Who would survive? What form of society would rise from the aftermath? These are some of the questions I want to explore in this new story I've been bouncing around in my mind the last several months. The problem I have is what would cause a complete collapse of society and yet still seem plausible.

Yes, my story idea is yet another dystopian world (the start of one actually), but I wanted to write the story of how we went from the society we have today and show how society collapsed over night. I thought about this for a long time trying to find a way of breaking down society without repeating past stories (alien invasion, virus outbreak, asteroid impact, new technology, weather event, natural disaster, etc.) and still have the cause be plausible. I like the idea I came up with and it seems plausible to me. I just need to do some due diligence and research the science involved with the event I came up with (which is one of the items I listed above).

So, even though I haven't been doing any writing, I have been researching and getting ready for some world building as I sit at home watching television. That's my story and I'm staying with it. [Smile]

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL: Keep thinking about what changes I need to make to improve this story.
Still thinking. Just no time to get to this one yet. [Smile]

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS):
Revise the query and get three more queries out this week.
Yes. Four, actually. [Smile]

BLOOD WILL TELL: The hard part (for me)--marketing.
Eh. Not so much. [Frown]

BLOOD IS THICKER: Let it rest.
Easy one. [Smile]

MAGIC'S APPRENTICE: The feedback on the opening is coming in. I need to schedule in a little time to deal with it.
Done. Actually marked up the revisions. [Smile]

THE BARD'S GIFT: I'll keep last week's goal, again. Make it through Chapter 7.
Nope. But I'm about to get unstuck. [Big Grin]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Also, finish revisions/additions to a novella "The Music Box" that I intend to e-pub this month.

Yes to both. Now I just have to prep the file and actually e-pub it. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL:
Keep thinking about what changes I need to make to improve this story.

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS):
Send out three more queries out this week.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
The hard part (for me)--marketing.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Let it rest.

MAGIC'S APPRENTICE:
Nothing for this week.

THE BARD'S GIFT:
I'll keep last week's goal, again. Make it through Chapter 7.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

E-publish "The Music Box".

I think I skipped two weeks but both would have been the same so it probably doesn't matter.

Worked on Angel Kin, about to start a fight scene on top of fifty foot tall permanent scaffolding. Yes there is such a thing we have one where I live. But first I had to have her stalker teach her a thing or two about fighting. It's the second in a series of tests the bad guys are giving her. I need to come up with a third or fourth one.

Worked on Stone Within. Decided that my MC needs a close female friend she can discuss her dating habits-or lack thereof- with. I decided that is one things friends are for. To Show things in a discussion instead of just having the MC Tell the things.

Worked on revising Two Struggles. Still need an even better title. I started chapter seven. But I was reminded how important the fives senses are so I may go back to check a few scenes to make sure I included all five. But started vacation so have two weeks to complete the revision. and hopefully do some if not most of my space opera.

Last Week:

THE NULL PROPHET: Send two queries.
No [Frown]

UNBORN: Revise two chapters.
3 1/2. [Smile] There wasn't much to change, though, and I think I need to go back and add a little more.

NORTH: Let it rest.
Easy [Smile]

OTHER: Write a blog post, but only if it doesn't mess up my writing schedule.
No. (On the plus side, it didn't mess up my writing schedule. My 13-day migraine did that all on it's own. [Frown] )

Next Week:

THE NULL PROPHET:
Send a query.

UNBORN:
Revise two chapters.

NORTH:
Let it rest.

OTHER:
I'm trying out a writing group this week, so I have 3 pieces to read & critique. I hope it works out, and that the drive doesn't kill me.
