Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
Describe what you worked on.
Set goals for next week.
Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

As for me.

Last Week's Goals:

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS): Continue promoting.
Some. Clearly not enough, yet. [Frown]

BLOOD WILL TELL: Contnue serialization on wattpad to try to create more interest.
Finished! [Big Grin] Not sure how much good it's done, yet, though.

THE BARD'S GIFT: Send out three queries.
Yes. [Smile]

MAGE STORM: Rest. Wait for feedback.
Sort of. I worked some on the query, synopsis, and pitches. [Smile]

MAGIC AND POWER: Continue with second draft. Chapters 3 thru 6.
Yes. [Smile]

BLOOD IS THICKER: Rest before (hopefully) final revision pass. Begin planning a launch.
Mostly. I started trying to write a pitch. Haven't done very well yet. But I did come up with a cover I'm happy with [Smile]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS):
Continue promoting.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Nothing right now.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Rest before (hopefully) final revision pass. Begin planning a launch. Try to come up with a decent pitch. I think I'll also serialize this one on wattpad.

THE BARD'S GIFT:
Send out three queries.

MAGE STORM:
Rest. Wait for feedback. Get feedback on the query and pitches.

MAGIC AND POWER:
Continue with second draft. Chapters 7 thru 10.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Hey Meredith, I have a suggestion for what we can be doing each week:

Reading.

http://www.writingforward.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/stephen-king-quotes-on-writing.jpg

If we're not near a computer, and say, on vacation, (like me, next week) we should be reading.

In addition, we can be reading how-to books. Perhaps if we're blocked. Several times, a how-to has unblocked me by sheer inspiration. They teach, but they also encourage, and sometimes that's enough to get my butt back in the chair.

As for my novel, I reached 9k for June. (with an 8k goal.)

So, I'm stoked!
That's really my only goal(s) at the moment.
8k a month till I'm done at 64k.
For now, I'm at 25k.

Always reading. [Smile]

You remind me, however, that I have now three books about writing on my kindle that I haven't started. I probably should do that, too.

Congratulations on beating your goal.

To tell you the truth, I find that one of the benefits of having multiple projects is that I'm almost never blocked--slowed down a bit sometimes, but not blocked. I can always just switch to one of the other projects and still be productive. [Big Grin]

Missed two days last week, due to circumstances beyond my control. I guess I'll count it as a victory that I still wrote the other 5 days, out of town at my in-laws with a house even more full of kids than mine.

Describe what you worked on.

Worked on rewriting a novel that interested an agent a couple of years ago.

Set goals for next week.

Wrote a chapter of new (on the above mentioned project) and went through past chapters rewriting, cleaning up messes and inconsistencies, combing through looking for spelling errors

Did you learn something during this week?

More background for my world building -- not stuff that goes in the novel, but interesting. Some bit MAY pop up as I rewrite

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

Writing on a novel

Characterization

World Building

A bit late here but yes I did write on my novels. Well, one anyway.

Not a whole lot but some twice. I've been busy going over stories and making story sets to Indie publish. And trying to learn how to do covers and such. I want to do cheaper covers for the sets but get one done by a pro for that novel.

I found out my Chapter three didn't need nearly as much revising as I thought. I knew Ch two would need a bunch and I spent a while taking out stuff, adding complete scenes instead of just saying this and that happened, deleted a few things, clarified a few things. It's now being looked over again. I started Ch four but I don't think it needs all that much extra work either. Some of the last few chapters may though. I shall see.
