Glad your first draft is on the move, Meredith. Slow and steady wins the race. [Smile]

I started a writing diary a week and a half ago as an experiment, and at this point I can safely say that it's something I intend to keep doing. It's essentially a way to keep myself aware of and accountable to how much writing I actually do on a daily basis. Even on days when I don't get a lot accomplished, scrolling back over the last few days and seeing a record of my progress gives me renewed vigor to pick things back up the next day.

I've made decent progress toward my novella. I've got the bones and some of the musculature for the culture and religion, and the same goes for the characters. (I've found fleshing out the characters helps the culture and vice versa, so I'm working at it from both angles.) I also have a plot hook in mind to propel the characters forward, although I've been so focused on setting-related conflict and conflict between the protagonists that I have yet to work on my external antagonist (although I know more or less what is needed).

I intend to work on my novella during the month of November, as finishing out 25k or so in the course of a month will be more fitting to my current writing pace than a 50k word goal. I do hope to finish my first draft by the end of November, though.
