DUAL MAGICS SERIES: As time permits, go through the x-ray listings for the Dual Magics boxed set and THE BARD'S GIFT. Well, now that it's summer, maybe I'll get around to this. Probably not this week, though. Nope, not this week, either.
BECOME: TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING: Promote through social media. Yes.
BECOME: TO RIDE THE STORM: Move forward with the first draft. Try to get about two more chapters down. The goal is to finish this first draft by the first week in September. I'm on Chapter 37, 69,000 words in. Yes.

Memory invention work -- make believe? Inventory the setting details, concertina wire, barbed or razor. wire or ribbon? Does the type hold "telling detail" relevance? Or other setting features do? What's the dramatic situation: the complication and conflict and emotion of the setting? Later, after meditation or sudden realization, a real-world time-place-situation's meaning comes into focus if ever. How does that translate into invented memory?
And prose's strength and clarity for reader effect means readers realize situations' meanings before an agonist does: dramatic irony. Show a true situation yet an agonist lags behind in meaning development. Readers lag less.
These maunders suggest pathways, narrowed somewhat, though nonetheless manifold. A guide wanted; that is, a focused thematic undercurrent for what a setting means for the immediate now moment and an overall narrative. What does a fortress walk-thru arraignment center mean to an agoraphobe who's complicated by a hopeless jobless economy? The agonist is on a scavenger hunt prospect, compelled to visit and unaware of the agoraphobia. A hah! A covert discovery for the scene's outcome and full realization. Partial revelation only.
Afraid and angry, sarcastic attitude, bewildered by a fortress agora and a jobless economy, excluded, and strives for calm when all the cosmos intends harm. What's at stake? A job: riches and rags conflict? A life and death conflict? Or acceptance and rejection? All the former and more? One at first foremost. Unknown fear of the fortress agora, heightened by personal interaction impact threats? Or initially an ambiguous and remote threat that soon becomes personal and danger close yet related to the overall theme? Early adulthood initiation realization near middle adulthood's start. Not Pinocchio eagerness nor Peter Pan reluctance -- concern fate's indifferent determinism and happenstance will overtop conscious free will. A hah! That's a suitable magnitude theme-conflict and complication, covert and abstract, and overt and concrete: self-reliant self-governor and obsequious servant.
[Edit: And concertina wire-topped chain-link fence then is an apt metaphor for force majuere social-job exclusion and containment control yet a literal-concrete meaning on its surface and an apt fortress agora emotional texture of brittle steel thorns every-which-a-way contention social-moral sensibilities.]

I am way behind on this. Sometimes it;s hard to remember it for some strange unknown reason.
Decided to do the cover for my SF novel. I just want a simple cover for that. A certain type of space ship, with a planet or two behind it.
The cover for the Preindustrial steampunk-fantasy will probably be harder, even though there is a pic I took that could work, at least for background.
Writing on my novel "Insane" third chapter. MC has a box with something powerful in it that she can sense but didn't know what it is. She is asking for help to get it somewhere safe. Those who lost it are looking for it though.
Not really novels but I have a Western set of short stories I need a picture of a US Marshal's badge for. Stories revised etc just need that pic. Soon will have five stories ready for a set of fin titled "Foibles" Thinking about using a solid cover for that with just the title and my name.
And I decided-I think to restart the revision process for a Urban Fantasy novel I have done. Some of it has been revised but all. That will probably be my next novel after those two I referenced that I am looking for covers for.

Find a public domain example, or request a use license for a copyrighted one online, or use a graphics program and design one based on extant examples. A 3-D program freeware, like Anim8or, would do. Maybe an Adobe or Corel suite might do, too.
The basics are a heraldry-type shield shape ("Escutcheon (heraldry)" Wikipedia), a central five-point star die cutout, intaglio relief "US Marshal," and small intaglio relief stars at the four ordinal points.
